ABSTRACT Our theory of education, based on a systemic understanding of the subjective and intersubjective construction of knowledge, is that students are motivated to study what is most meaningful to them. Meaningfulness is grounded in the students' prior experiences, which are highly diverse.

Properties of squeezed number states and squeezed thermal states
Physical Review A, 1989Much attention has been given in the past to two classes of squeezed states: the squeezed vacuum and coherent states. Here we study the effects of squeezing on number states and on thermal field states. The statistical properties of these various squeezed states are discussed using the second-order correlation functions.

Coherence properties of squeezed light and the degree of squeezing
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1987Certain two-time correlation functions of squeezed optical fields and their Fourier conjugates are investigated. These functions are related to the autocorrelation function and the spectral density of the photoelectric current that appears in measurements made of the squeezed light by a homodyne technique.

Statistical properties of squeezed Kerr states
Physical Review A, 1994We study the statistical properties of squeezed Kerr states generated by squeezing, with a two-photon parametric process, the output of a Kerr medium whose input is coherent light. The squeezing has the effect of allowing the photon statistics to depend on the Kerr nonlinearity.

Squeezing properties of a pulsating oscillator
Quantum and Semiclassical Optics: Journal of the European Optical Society Part B, 1995The authors have investigated the time evolution of a quantum oscillator with a pulsating mass using the Lie-algebraic technique. Squeezing properties of the oscillator are numerically examined. The analyses indicate that the oscillator initially in a coherent state can have a very strong squeezing effect.

Properties of Squeezed Superposition States
Journal of Modern Optics, 1993Abstract We study the properties of quantum states of the electromagnetic field obtained from the application of the squeeze operator to superpositions of the ordinary coherent states ¦α> and ¦−α>.

Phase properties of squeezed states
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1989Exact phase calculations for general squeezed states are presented. Results are given for different phase definitions, using number-state expansions. It is shown that the calculations based on the measured-phase-operator formalism leads to contrasting behavior compared with those based on the Susskind–Glogower, Lerner–Lynch, and Hermitian-phase ...

Properties of superposition of squeezed states
Physics Letters A, 1997Abstract We investigate some statistical properties of superposed squeezed states. The quasiprobability distribution functions, especially W ( α ) and Q ( α ), are calculated and discussed for these states. A generation scheme is proposed for both the squeezed generalized Schrodinger cat, or the squeezed number state.
