Tracing Identity in a Fragmented Past: Multi‐Proxy Analysis of Human Skeletal Remains From Dungowan Creek, New South Wales, Australia

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Human skeletal remains constitute critical archaeological evidence for reconstructing past societies, yet their investigation requires careful ethical, cultural, and legislative consideration. This paper reports on the discovery, recovery and analysis of a set of skeletal remains encountered during a cultural heritage management (CHM ...

USE OF Sr ISOTOPES TO CONSTRAIN Sr (AND Ca) SOURCES IN A MEDITERRANEAN SOIL PROFILE NEAR MURAVERA (SE SARDINIA)

open access: yes, 2007
Sr isotopes have been applied to detect the sources of the element in a soil profile of South-Eastern Sardinia. The data indicate that the uppermost of exchangeable Sr in the most surficial horizons of the soil is supplied by the precipitation and ...

Glass from Teniky (Madagascar): Geochemical Evidence for Multiple Production Systems and Long‐Distance Exchange in the Mediaeval Indian Ocean

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The inland rock‐cut site of Teniky, located in the Isalo massif of southern Madagascar, represents an exceptional archaeological context recently dated to the 11th–12th centuries ad, corresponding to the early phases of settlement on the island.

Chironomid‐based summer temperature reconstruction of the Eemian–Weichselian transition at Lichtenberg, northern Germany

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Understanding the temperature variability of past interglacial cycles is essential to predict future climates. We present a new summer temperature reconstruction, based on the subfossil chironomid record from a small palaeolake adjacent to the Middle Palaeolithic site of Lichtenberg, northern Germany. The record spans from the Saalian late glacial over

Towards an ‘absolute’ timing of biostratigraphic and environmental phases from the Saalian late glacial to the Weichselian pleniglacial in central Europe—Insights from a lacustrine succession in Lichtenberg, northern Germany

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Palynological records are central to the biostratigraphic subdivision of the Late Pleistocene in central Europe. Yet many interglacial and interstadial phases—such as the Eemian, Brörup and Odderade—remain only poorly constrained in time due to limited numerical dating.

Collinear Three-Photon Excitation of a Strongly Forbidden Optical Clock Transition

open access: yesPhysical Review X
The ^{1}S_{0}-^{3}P_{0} clock transition in strontium serves as the foundation for the world’s best atomic clocks and for gravitational wave detector concepts in clock atom interferometry.

Depositional processes of varved sediments from proglacial Lago Frías since 1800 CE (North Patagonian Andes, Argentina)

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The glacierized Valle Frías in Northern Patagonia is one of the best‐studied valleys in South America and includes varved sediments from Lago Frías. We complement this lacustrine record with a high‐resolution documentation of varve counts and their composition.

Pronounced Reductions in Plasma Citrulline Indicate Severe Intestinal Mucosal Barrier Injury During Induction Therapy for Pediatric Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML) chemotherapy regimens are frequently burdened by fever episodes, systemic inflammation and bloodstream infections (BSI). Mucosal barrier injury may contribute to these complications, but its role in childhood AML remains uninvestigated.

Influence of Laser Repetition Rate, Fluence and Spot Size on LA‐Q‐ICP‐MS/MS 87Sr/86Sr Precision: Insights from Apatites and Silicate Glasses

open access: yesGeostandards and Geoanalytical Research, EarlyView.
Key Points Higher laser repetition rate, fluence and larger spot size increase signal intensity. Higher laser repetition rate produces overlaps in aerosolised particles, improving signal stability and precision. For Sr‐rich materials, moderate spot diameter (≤ 60 μm), 3 J cm‐2 fluence and ≥ 12 Hz repetition rate are recommended.
