Sr and Pb isotopes as environmental indicators in environmental studies

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2002
An environmental indicator is a numerical or a descriptive categorization of environmental data with the primary purpose of assessing the affected environment. In these studies, two characteristic isotopes, namely Sr and Pb, were assessed of their ability to describe the affected environment in environmental studies by detecting trends of pollution ...

A normalised seawater strontium isotope curve: possible implications for Neoproterozoic-Cambrian weathering rates and the further oxygenation of the Earth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The strontium isotope composition of seawater is strongly influenced on geological time scales by changes in the rates of continental weathering relative to ocean crust alteration.

Identification of an Osteochondral Erosion Process in Gout Driven by Fibrinogen‐Integrin Activation and Local MSU Crystallization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cartilage injury promotes local fibrinogen deposition, which accelerates monosodium urate crystallization and activates integrin‐mediated matrix‐degradation. This self‐amplifying cycle drives gout‐related cartilage erosion. Disrupting fibrinogen deposition or restoring the cartilage barrier could interrupt this vicious cycle.

Characterization and migration of atmospheric REE in soils and surface waters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Rainwater and snow collected from three different sites in France (Vosges Mountains, French Alps and Strasbourg) show more or less similar shapes of their REE distribution patterns.

Stabilising the Lattice Oxygen Oxidation Mechanism Through Iridium Single Atoms in Chromium‐Doped Cobalt Iron Layered Double Hydroxides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Iridium single atoms and Cr doping synergistically activate and stabilise the lattice oxygen oxidation mechanism in CoFe layered double hydroxides. Electronic modulation enhances metal–oxygen covalency, suppresses over‐oxidation, and enables durable oxygen evolution, delivering high‐performance anion exchange membrane water electrolysis with ...

Strontium isotopes reveal weathering processes in lateritic covers in southern China with implications for paleogeographic reconstructions.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The isotope ratios of Sr are useful tracers for studying parent material sources, weathering processes, and biogeochemical cycling. Mineralogical and geochemical investigations of two lateritic weathering covers, in an area close to the Tropic of Cancer (

Minimal Transport Units Govern Oxygen‐Defect Stabilization and Transport for Lightweight Solid Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lightweight borate chemistry combined with minimal transport units provides a new pathway for designing lightweight oxide‐ion solid electrolytes. ABSTRACT Solid electrolytes are central to electrochemical energy technologies, including fuel cells, sensors, catalysis, membrane separation, and electrolyser.

In situ Sr-Nd Isotopic Measurement of Apatite Using Laser Ablation Multi-collector Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesYankuang ceshi, 2013
Apatite is a common accessory mineral, having a high Sr-Nd content and a low Rb content. The precise determination of micro-area Sr-Nd isotopic composition for apatite will provide important geochemical information for discussing the details of the ...

Crust‐Mantle Interaction During Continental Deep Subduction: Evidence From Light Mo Isotopes in Post‐Collisional Mafic Igneous Rocks From the East Kunlun Orogen

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
It is intriguing whether and how crust‐mantle interaction would proceed in continental subduction zones. Here, we report zircon U‐Pb ages and Hf isotopes, major and trace elements, and Sr‐Nd‐Mo isotopes for Late Paleozoic mafic igneous rocks from the ...

Lead and strontium isotopes as palaeodietary indicators in the Western Cape of South Africa

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2020
We analysed the isotopic compositions of bioavailable strontium (Sr) and lead (Pb) in 47 samples of animals and plants derived from the various geological substrates of southwestern South Africa, to explore the utility of these isotope systems as dietary
