The Pseudoenzyme β‐Amylase9 From Arabidopsis Activates α‐Amylase3: A Possible Mechanism to Promote Stress‐Induced Starch Degradation

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Starch accumulation in plants provides carbon for nighttime use, for regrowth after periods of dormancy, and for times of stress. Both ɑ‐ and β‐amylases (AMYs and BAMs, respectively) catalyze starch hydrolysis, but their functional roles are unclear.

Estimating global determinants of leopard home range size in a changing world

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, Volume 25, Issue 6, Page 748-758, December 2022., 2022
The leopard (Panthera pardus) is an iconic, generalist and broadly distributed felid undergoing severe population declines. We conducted macroecological research to identify the determinants of leopard home range size across their global distribution.

On the efficiency of stratospheric gravity wave production from mid‐latitude convective systems: 2D versus 3D dynamics

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
Due to greater convective organization, our results indicate higher efficiency of gravity wave production in two‐dimensional systems than in three‐dimensional systems. By analyzing the domain‐averaged entrainment rate, we identified a strong correlation between convective organization and gravity wave (GW) production efficiency, with implications for ...
