Preparing an urban test site for SRTM data validation

IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, 2002
In this paper, we describe a method to obtain a reliable set of elevation data suitable for data validation on the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), starting from laser scanning measurements on an urban test site: Pavia, Northern Italy. The elevation dataset is obtained through extraction of digital terrain models.

An evaluation of void‐filling interpolation methods for SRTM data

International Journal of Geographical Information Science, 2007
The Digital Elevation Model that has been derived from the February 2000 Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) has been one of the most important publicly available new spatial data sets in recent years. However, the 'finished' grade version of the data (also referred to as Version 2) still contains data voids (some 836,000 km2)-and other anomalies ...

Mapping Water Basins in the Eastern Sahara by SRTM Data

IGARSS 2008 - 2008 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2008
RTM (~90 m) data and Radarsat-1 images of northern Sudan were processed for exploring potential groundwater accumulation sites in the region. Data analysis unveiled three extensive ancient river courses named as Howar, El-Qaab and Arbain. These eastward flowing rivers, which are now partly hidden beneath the sand, are extinct tributaries of the Nile ...

X-SAR/SRTM instrument phase error calibration

IGARSS 2001. Scanning the Present and Resolving the Future. Proceedings. IEEE 2001 International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (Cat. No.01CH37217), 2002
Before starting the operational processing of all the acquired X-SAR interferometric SAR data from the SRTM mission, the calibration of deterministic phase errors as far as possible is necessary. Besides the phase errors caused by the shuttle and mast dynamic variations and the position and attitude inaccuracy, there are phase errors originating from ...

Obtaining orthophotographs using SRTM digital models

Survey Review, 2013
AbstractOrthophotograph, orthoimages or orthophotomaps have become common and fundamental documents for urban planning, civil engineering projects, etc., by themselves or as a complement of geographic information systems. The success of these products, as opposed to topographic maps, lies in their facility in locating zones and buildings.
