Pathogenic Neurofibromatosis type 1 gene variants in tumors of non‐NF1 patients and role of R1276

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Somatic variants of the neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) gene occur across neoplasms without clinical manifestation of the disease NF1. We identified emerging somatic pathogenic NF1 variants and hotspots, for example, at the arginine finger 1276. Those missense variants provide fundamental information about neurofibromin's role in cancer.

True logarithmic amplification of frequency clock in SS-OCT for calibration

open access: yesBiomedical Optics Express, 2011
With swept source optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), imprecise signal calibration prevents optimal imaging of biological tissues such as coronary artery. This work demonstrates an approach using a true logarithmic amplifier to precondition the clock signal, with the effort to minimize the noises and phase errors for optimal calibration. This method

Lessons Learned: Quality Analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography in Neuromyelitis Optica

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Optical coherence tomography (OCT)‐derived retina measurements are markers for neuroaxonal visual pathway status. High‐quality OCT scans are essential for reliable measurements, but their acquisition is particularly challenging in eyes with severe visual impairment, as often observed in neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders ...

A Generic Framework for Fourier-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging: Software Architecture and Hardware Implementations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT), including spectral-domain OCT (SD-OCT) and swept-source OCT (SS-OCT), allows the volumetric imaging of the tissue architecture with a faster speed and higher detection sensitivity than does time ...

Corneal and Epithelial Thickness Mapping: Comparison of Swept-Source- and Spectral-Domain-Optical Coherence Tomography

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmology, 2021
Objective. To compare the results and repeatability of the corneal thickness (CT) and epithelial thickness (ET) maps provided by Swept-Source-Optical Coherence Tomography with those of Spectral-Domain-OCT in normal eyes. Methods.

Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Multimodal Imaging, OCT B-Scan Localization, and En Face OCT Detection of Macular Hyperpigmentation in Eyes with Intermediate Age-Related Macular Degeneration

open access: yesOphthalmology Science, 2022
Purpose: Multimodal imaging was used to identify and characterize the cause of hyperpigmentation seen on color fundus images (CFIs) of eyes with intermediate age-related macular degeneration (iAMD).
