Deep Optical Cryptography: Joint Encryption and LC Lens Key Generation for Secure Displays

We propose a learning‐based visual cryptography system using a liquid crystal modulator for distance‐dependent optical decryption. By jointly optimizing ciphertext images and LC‐based optical keys with shift‐aware training, the framework ensures secure plaintext recovery only at designated distances.

Enhancement of the structural similarity index SSIM

Properties of a popular measure of comparing a digital image with a reference – the index of structural    similarity, called SSIM in the literature – are explored. It is proved that the SSIM and its derivative functions are not metrics.
