TT4D: Tensor‐Train‐based 4D Time‐Dependent Volume Rendering

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Visualizing large‐scale, time‐varying volumetric data using direct volume rendering remains a significant challenge in scientific visualization, particularly as data sizes and resolutions continue to increase. One promising direction for addressing this challenge is the use of tensor decompositions, which have proven to be a useful tool for ...

Physically Based Neural BRDF: A Framework for Physically Correct Material Reconstruction, Generation and Editing

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We introduce the physically based neural BRDF, a novel continuous representation for material appearance based on neural fields. Our model accurately performs real‐world material reconstruction, generation and editing, while uniquely enhancing the physical accuracy of neural BRDFs via three key aspects: energy conservation, Helmholtz reciprocity and ...

Single Line Drawing Generation via Semantics‐Driven Optimization

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
We present a method for automatically generating single‐line drawings in vector format, guided by a text prompt or an input image. Our approach leverages score distillation sampling to optimize the parameters of a uniform rational B‐spline (URBS) curve, ensuring that the drawing consists of a single continuous stroke by design.

Discharge‐Targeted Hydraulic Tomography to Quantify and Locate Aquifer Discharge

open access: yesGroundwater, EarlyView.
Abstract Quantifying and localizing groundwater discharge is inherently difficult. It requires knowledge about hydraulic conductivity and the hydraulic gradient on the scale of interest. Conventional hydraulic testing, such as pumping tests, may fail in the presence of heterogeneity and complex structural boundaries.

Generative Artificial Intelligence for Computer Vision in Endodontics: A Review of Current State and Future Potential

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Computer vision methods based on artificial intelligence (AI) have found numerous applications in endodontic diagnosis and treatment planning. While most current applications employ discriminative deep learning models for detection and classification tasks, the field is now witnessing the rise of generative AI (GenAI), a class of AI

Deep learning assisted high‐resolution microscopy image processing for phase segmentation in functional composite materials

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract In the domain of battery research, the processing of high‐resolution microscopy images is a challenging task, as it involves dealing with complex images and requires a prior understanding of the components involved. The utilisation of deep learning methodologies for image analysis has attracted considerable interest in recent years, with ...

Application of Noise2Inverse and adaptation (Noise2Phase) to single‐mask x‐ray phase contrast micro‐computed tomography

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract X‐ray phase contrast imaging (XPCI), when implemented in micro‐computed tomography (micro‐CT) mode, offers high‐contrast 3D imaging of weakly‐attenuating material samples. In the so‐called single‐mask edge illumination approach, a mask with periodically spaced transmitting apertures is used to split the x‐ray beam into narrow beamlets; when ...

3SD: Rotational symmetry single‐shot denoising in fluorescence microscopy

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Image noise is a fundamental problem in fluorescence microscopy analysis, especially in live cell imaging applications where the number of detected photons is limited due to low power of excitation lasers to prevent phototoxicity during extended imaging experiments.

Climatic, Socioecological and Environmental Determinants of Aedes spp. Dynamics at the Community Interface: A Systematic Review With Reflections From a One Health Perspective

open access: yesTropical Medicine &International Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Mosquitoes of the genus Aedes, including but not limited to Aedes aegypti, are major vectors of arboviruses such as dengue, Zika and other related diseases. Their global expansion is driven by climate change, globalisation, urbanisation and human mobility.
