Comparison of the Distribution Patterns of Microsatellites Across the Genomes of Reptiles

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Microsatellites or simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are prevalent across various organisms' genomes. However, their distribution patterns and evolutionary dynamics in reptile genomes are rarely studied systematically.

Evaluation of the Shock Absorption Capacity of Polymeric Specimens Manufactured by 3D Printing

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the current context, due to the accelerated development of additive manufacturing, parts made of polymeric materials such as polylactic acid (PLA) manufactured by 3D printing are increasingly used. Such applications can be used, for example, in situations involving dynamic loads, where the shock energy absorption properties are essential ...

Lectotypifications and taxonomic changes in the holoparasitic Orobanchaceae

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Based on further extensive studies of specimens in various herbaria, lectotypes are designated for many taxa of holoparasitic Orobanchaceae. In particular, 47 names in the genera Boschniakia (incl. Xylanche), Cistanche, Orobanche, Phelipanche and Phelypaea are lectotypified.

Association Mapping Analysis of Morphological Characteristics in F2 Population of Perilla (Perilla frutescens L.) Using SSR Markers

open access: yesPlants
To identify SSR markers associated with both quantitative and qualitative traits in Perilla, we analyzed a total of 68 individuals from an F2 population derived from a cross between WPC06-339 (weedy var. crispa) and WPF17-049 (weedy var.

Relay Switching Aided Turbo Coded Hybrid-ARQ for Correlated Fading Channel

open access: yes, 2011
Hybrid-Automatic-Repeat-reQuest (HARQ) has become an indispensable technique in reliable communications systems. However, its performance is inevitably affected by the channel’s fading correlation. In this paper, we proposed a novel relay-switching aided

Investigating conservation performance payments alongside human–wildlife conflicts: The Swedish lynx and wolverine protection policies

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Conservation performance payments are becoming an increasingly popular instrument to tackle human–wildlife conflicts. In Sweden, Sámi communities practicing reindeer husbandry receive performance payments as compensation for reindeer losses caused by lynxes and wolverines.

Data Mining for Simple Sequence Repeats in Oil Palm Expressed Sequence Tags [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Expressed Sequence Tags or ESTs are small pieces of DNA sequence that are generated by sequencing either one or both ends of an expressed gene. ESTs provide researchers with a quick and inexpensive route for discovering new genes, for obtaining data on ...

Image classification by visual bag-of-words refinement and reduction

open access: yes, 2015
This paper presents a new framework for visual bag-of-words (BOW) refinement and reduction to overcome the drawbacks associated with the visual BOW model which has been widely used for image classification.
