Chest Wall Reconstruction for the Treatment of Lung Herniation and Respiratory Failure 1 Month after Emergency Thoracotomy in a Patient with Traumatic Flail Chest [PDF]
We report a case of delayed chest wall reconstruction after thoracotomy. A 53-year-old female, a victim of a motor vehicle accident, presented with bilateral multiple rib fractures with flail motion and multiple extrathoracic injuries.

Current status of the SSRF project [PDF]
The Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is an intermediate energy light source under design and R&D at Shanghai National Synchrotron Radiation Center (SSRC). It is based on a 3.5 GeV electron storage ring with a circumference of 396 m, a beam current of 200-300 mA and a beam emittance of 5-12 nm/spl middot/rad.

Performance of the BL03U beamline at SSRF
The vacuum ultraviolet beamline BL03U with a photon energy range from 7 eV upwards has been constructed at the 3.5 GeV Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Equipped with an APPLE-Knot undulator, this beamline is dedicated to angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. An energy-resolving power of higher than 4.6 × 104 has been achieved in the photon

A new QEXAFS system on the general XAFS beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility
A new quick-scanning extended X-ray absorption fine-structure (QEXAFS) system for in situ studies has been developed and tested on the general XAFS beamline at the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. In the new system, an analog-to-digital converter

Quantum entanglement theory in the presence of superselection rules [PDF]
Superselection rules severly constrain the operations which can be implemented on a distributed quantum system. While the restriction to local operations and classical communication gives rise to entanglement as a nonlocal resource, particle number ...
