Abstract The latest reform of initial teacher education (ITE) in France, introduced in 2021, aims to make teacher training less theoretical and therefore more ‘practical’. New elements, such as the replacement of the Écoles Supérieures pour le Professorat et l'Éducation (ÉSPÉs) by the Instituts Nationaux Supérieurs du Professorat et de l'Education ...

Distribution of skates and sharks in the North Sea: 112 years of change [PDF]
How have North Sea skate and shark assemblages changed since the early 20th century when bottom trawling became widespread, whilst their environment became increasingly impacted by fishing, climate change, habitat degradation and other anthropogenic ...

The influence of rivers on seabird foraging ecology
ABSTRACT Rivers act as vital arteries to the world's oceans, delivering fresh water and nutrients that sustain marine ecosystems. Globally, river flow increasingly is being altered by climate change and anthropogenic pressures; yet the significance of rivers to predatory marine species, such as seabirds, and the extent to which river‐related changes ...

Structural and Dynamical Quality Assessment of Gap‐Filled Sea Surface Temperature Products
Previous studies that intercompared global Level‐4 (L4) sea surface temperature (SST) analyses were centered on the assessment of the accuracy and bias of SST by comparing them with independent near‐surface Argo profile temperature data.

Characteristics and variability of storm tracks in the north Pacific, Bering Sea, and Alaska [PDF]
The North Pacific and Bering Sea regions represent loci of cyclogenesis and storm track activity. In this paper climatological properties of extratropical storms in the North Pacific/Bering Sea are presented based upon aggregate statistics of individual ...

Statistical climate forecast systems typically do not use preceding global gridded sea surface temperature (SST) data directly; instead, they extract a single predictor (e.g., the Niño3.4 index) or multiple predictors (e.g., time series of several SST ...

MAESSTRO: Masked Autoencoders for Sea Surface Temperature Reconstruction under Occlusion [PDF]
This study investigates the use of a masked autoencoder (MAE) to address the challenge of filling gaps in high-resolution (1 km) sea surface temperature (SST) fields caused by cloud cover, which often result in gaps in the SST data and/or blurry imagery ...
