Fixed-parameter tractability and lower bounds for stabbing problems [PDF]
We study the following general stabbing problem from a parameterized complexity point of view: Given a set $\mathcal S$ of $n$ translates of an object in $\Rd$, find a set of $k$ lines with the property that every object in $\mathcal S$ is ''stabbed'' (intersected) by at least one line. We show that when $S$ consists of axis-parallel unit squares in $

Penetrating Heart Injury due to Screwdriver Assault
Penetrating heart injuries cause wounds in the cardiac chambers. Most of them are due to gunshot or stabbing by knives. Screwdriver is an uncommon weapon.

Brown-Sequard-Plus Syndrome after Stab Injury
A 5-year-old boy suffered a stab wound to the back in the right paraspinal region that resulted in spinal cord injury at T2-T3 level and spinal shock.

Wound Severity Classification using Deep Neural Network [PDF]
The classification of wound severity is a critical step in wound diagnosis. An effective classifier can help wound professionals categorize wound conditions more quickly and affordably, allowing them to choose the best treatment option. This study used wound photos to construct a deep neural network-based wound severity classifier that classified them ...

Stabbing Pairwise Intersecting Disks by Five Points [PDF]
Suppose we are given a set $\mathcal{D}$ of $n$ pairwise intersecting disks in the plane. A planar point set $P$ stabs $\mathcal{D}$ if and only if each disk in $\mathcal{D}$ contains at least one point from $P$. We present a deterministic algorithm that takes $O(n)$ time to find five points that stab $\mathcal{D}$.

Stab wounds to the cervical spine are less common than injuries from road accidents, sports injuries, and falls. The presence of vital, vascular, neural, respiratory, and digestive structures in the neck region mean that this kind of spinal injury is ...

Obesity may not be protective in abdominal stab wounds
Context: Current protocols for the management of abdominal stab wounds were established based on retrospective data from prior decades. Few have investigated whether higher body mass index (BMI) affects outcomes after these injuries.

Wound healing is a process regulated by a complex interaction of multiple growth factors including fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF2). Although FGF2 appears in several tissue engineered studies, its applications are limited due to its low stability both ...

Diagnosis and treatment of medically treated rectus sheath hematoma caused by stabbing
Rectus sheath hematoma (RSH) mainly occurs due to anticoagulant therapy, and blunt traumas may also rarely cause RSH. However, there is no case report published on the follow-up and treatment process of RSH after stabbing.
