Magnetic resonance imaging offers advantages over computer tomography for measurement of the shoulder stability ratio

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics
Purpose Recent studies indicate that bony shoulder stability ratio (BSSR) is a useful parameter for estimating glenohumeral stability provided by concavity‐compression.

Stability of non-uniform liquid bridges in all dimensions

open access: yes, 2019
Static equilibrium configurations of continuum supported by surface tension are given by constant-mean-curvature (CMC) surfaces which are the critical points of a variational problem to extremize the area with keeping the volume fixed.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Copper–Tungsten Composites for Heat Sink Applications in High‐Power Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article demonstrates the successful qualification of a copper–tungsten composite for laser powder bed fusion. The resulting components exhibited high density, high thermal conductivity, and reduced thermal expansion. Heat sinks with complex geometries were successfully manufactured, clearly showcasing the material's potential for additive ...

Minimum Horizontal Curve Radius and Curve Speed Limit of Single-axle Monorail Train Lines Based on Ride Comfort

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] To address the issues of poor operational stability and ride comfort in the actual operation of single-axle monorail trains, it is aimed to investigate the rational values of minimum horizontal curve radius and curve speed limit for single ...

PBF‐LB/M of Ti‐6Al‐4V: High‐Pressure Solution Treatment and Aging for Applications in a Sustainable Aerospace

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing (AM) allows great geometric freedom for lightweight components. As parts are progressively optimized exploiting potentials in AM leading in smaller material cross sections, high pressure solution treating and aging (STA) treatments show an enormous potential for strongly improving material properties.

DARK ENERGY AND KEY PHYSICAL PARAMETERS OF CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2013
We study physics of clusters of galaxies embedded in the cosmic dark energy background. The equilibrium and stability of polytropic spheres with equation of state of the matter             P = Kpγ, γ = 1 + 1/n, in presence of a non-zero cosmological ...

Dynamical behaviour of multiplanet systems close to their stability limit

open access: yes, 2014
The dynamics of systems of two and three planets, initially placed on circular and nearly coplanar orbits, is explored in the proximity of their stability limit.

Interaction between Molten Al‐Killed Mn–B Steel and Carbon‐Bonded MgO Refractories Based on Recyclates

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

A FORMULA FOR THE STABILITY RADIUS OF TIME-VARYING SYSTEMS

open access: yes, 1998
This paper considers the stability radius of time-varying systems with respect to linear dynamical perturbations. A formula for the stability radius in terms of the norm of a certain input–output operator is developed.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...
