Removal Efficiency of Linear Alkyl Benzene Sulfonate (LAS) in Yazd Stabilization Pond [PDF]

open access: yesآب و فاضلاب, 2011
Surfactants are organic chemicals with wide applications as detergents. Linear alkyl benzene sulfonate (LAS) is an anionic surfactant most commonly used.

Nitrogen removal in maturation WSP ponds via biological uptake and sedimentation of dead biomass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this work a set of experiments was undertaken in a pilot-scale WSP system to determine the importance of organic nitrogen sedimentation on ammonium and total nitrogen removals in maturation ponds and its seasonal variation under British weather ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Disinfection of stabilization pond effluent by peracetic acid and sodium hypochlorite

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Health Engineering, 2013
Aims: In this study, the efficiency of peracetic acid (PAA), sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and combination of both disinfectants for disinfection of stabilization pond effluent was assessed.

EXAMINING PERFORMANCE OF STABILIZATION PONDS OF AHVAZ S SLAUGHTERHOUSE

open access: yesSelcuk University Journal of Engineering ,Science and Technology, 2017
A waste stabilization pond (WSP) is a hole in which household wastewater and other types of sewage are stored for long periods of time so that organic materials existing in them are deposited, decomposed and stabilized through exposure to light and heat and growth of algae and microorganisms.

Dispersive wave runup on non-uniform shores [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Historically the finite volume methods have been developed for the numerical integration of conservation laws. In this study we present some recent results on the application of such schemes to dispersive PDEs.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Use of stabilization pond sludge in cultivation of roses

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Engenharia Agrícola e Ambiental, 2014
One option for the increasing production of sewage sludge (SS) is its agricultural use in crops with high nutritional demand, such as the rose. Therefore, the aim of this work was to study the application of SS from primary stabilization pond in roses of

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
