Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Quantifying health risks in wastewater irrigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The guidelines developed by the World Health Organization for the safe use of wastewater in agriculture are based on a tolerable additional disease burden of 10-6 disability-adjusted life year loss per person per year, equivalent to rotavirus disease and

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

PROFITABILITY OF STABILIZATION PONDS IN SERIES FOR TREATMENT OF SANITARY SEWAGE

open access: yesIranian Journal of Public Health, 1985
Sewage stabilization pond is recommended as one of the economical methods for sewage treatment particularly in dry areas of the world and those places which are in shortage of water and income deficit, this method can be used for treatment of sewage in ...

Design criteria for canopy and hood inlet spillways (1993) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
These criteria apply to the design of canopy and hood inlet spillways used as the principal spillway for ponds, irrigation reservoirs, and stabilization structures.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Stabilization of Pond Ash using Biopolymer

open access: yesProcedia Earth and Planetary Science, 2015
AbstractThe present study pertains to stabilization of pond ash concerning stability factors viz. wind erosion, dust control and other harmful effects of pond ash near ash pond and mining areas using two biopolymers xanthan gum and guar gum. Compaction tests were done to obtain the optimum moisture content and maximum dry density and also unconfined ...

Intergration of control chart and pattern recognizer for bivariate quality control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Monitoring and diagnosis of mean shifts in manufacturing processes become more challenging when involving two or more correlated variables. Unfortunately, most of the existing multivariate statistical process control schemes are only effective in rapid ...

Rapid Invasion of Spartina Alterniflora in the Coastal Zone of Mainland China: Spatiotemporal Patterns and Human Prevention [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Given the extensive spread and ecological consequences of exotic Spartina alterniflora (S. alterniflora) over the coast of mainland China, monitoring its spatiotemporal invasion patterns is important for the sake of coastal ecosystem management and ...
