Dimensional stability of occlusal splints

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1996
Five fabrication techniques and two storage methods were used to construct and store specimens to investigate the dimensional stability of acrylic resin occlusal splints. A research model was developed to more closely approximate the tooth coverage limits of occlusal splints.

CLINICAL RATIONALE FOR TOOTH STABILIZATION AND SPLINTING

Dental Clinics of North America, 1999
Tooth mobility can be a consequence of periodontal inflammation, attachment loss, and occlusal trauma. At times, this mobility may be tolerable, whereas at other times mobility may contribute to occlusal instability and/or patient discomfort. This article describes the clinical rationale for and the effects of splinting mobile teeth.

Intranasal splints and their effects on intranasal adhesions and septal stability

Clinical Otolaryngology, 1992
Intranasal splints have been used to maintain septal stability and prevent intranasal adhesions following septal surgery. However, their efficacy and attendant morbidity have received surprisingly little attention. Our prospective study of 100 adults was divided into patients undergoing septoplasty or submucous resection of the nasal septum alone (n ...

Comparative electromyographic study of bite plates and stabilization splints

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1985
Abstract – The object was to study any influence on the integrated clectromyographie activity in the masseter and temporal muscles of two types of occlusal appliances. Seventeen healthy subjects wore a bite plate with a frontal plateau and a full coverage stabilization splint at night, each for 1 wk. The EMG activity was recorded without appliances in

A metacarpophalangeal joint stabilization splint: the Galindo-Lim thumb metacarpophalangeal joint stabilization splint.

Journal of hand therapy : official journal of the American Society of Hand Therapists, 2002
Creation of a splint should allow for maximal functional use of the hand as well as comfort. The design of the Galindo-Lim splint enhances functional use of the hand not only because it stabilizes the MCP joint but also because it does not cross the wrist crease, thus allowing full wrist motion.

Stabilization of avulsed teeth in children with the flexible mouthguard splint

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1978
A fast and simple technique for the fabrication of a removable splint is described. The splinting of avulsed or displaced anterior teeth in children often causes anchorage problems because adequate support is not available from the adjacent mixed dentition. A simplified splinting procedure helps solve this problem.
