Many natural real-valued functions of closed curves are known to extend continuously to the larger space of geodesic currents. For instance, the extension of length with respect to a fixed hyperbolic metric was a motivating example for the development of

Statistical Birkeland current distributions from magnetic field observations by the Iridium constellation [PDF]
We present a statistical analysis of Birkeland currents derived from Iridium magnetometer data acquired in the Northern Hemisphere to determine the dependence of large-scale currents on the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) direction.

Robust nonequilibrium surface currents in the three-dimensional Hofstadter model
Genuinely two-dimensional robust crosscurrents—which flow against the natural direction of heat flux— have been missing since the discovery of their one-dimensional counterpart. We provide a setup to realize them on a cubic three-dimensional (3D) lattice

Gradient design of imprinted anode for stable Zn-ion batteries
Achieving long-term stable zinc anodes at high currents/capacities remains a great challenge for practical rechargeable zinc-ion batteries. Herein, we report an imprinted gradient zinc electrode that integrates gradient conductivity and hydrophilicity ...

Stable Zinc Anodes Enabled by a Zincophilic Polyanionic Hydrogel Layer
The practical application of the Zn‐metal anode for aqueous batteries is greatly restricted by catastrophic dendrite growth, intricate hydrogen evolution, and parasitic surface passivation.

Marginally stable current sheets in collisionless magnetic reconnection
Non-collisional current sheets that form during the nonlinear development of magnetic reconnection are characterized by a small thickness, of the order of the electron skin depth. They can become unstable to the formation of plasmoids, which allows the magnetic reconnection process to reach high reconnection rates.

Counting curves, and the stable length of currents [PDF]
Let $\gamma_0$ be a curve on a surface $\Sigma$ of genus $g$ and with $r$ boundary components and let $\pi_1(\Sigma)\curvearrowright X$ be a discrete and cocompact action on some metric space.

Stable Universal 1‐ and 2‐Input Single‐Molecule Logic Gates
Controllable single‐molecule logic operations will enable development of reliable ultra‐minimalistic circuit elements for high‐density computing but require stable currents from multiple orthogonal inputs in molecular junctions.

Gd3+ and calcium sensitive, sodium leak currents are features of weak membrane-glass seals in patch clamp recordings. [PDF]
The properties of leaky patch currents in whole cell recording of HEK-293T cells were examined as a means to separate these control currents from expressed sodium and calcium leak channel currents from snail NALCN leak channels possessing both sodium ...

Traceable low-current measurements for a novel ionization gauge suitable as reference standard
A novel ionization gauge was developed where the electron beam is guided through the ionization space in a straight path. This design was chosen in order to develop a more stable ionization vacuum gauge suitable as reference standard in the range of 10−6
