Sulphur-isotope compositions of pig tissues from a controlled feeding study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Sulphur-isotope determinations are becoming increasingly useful for palaeodietary reconstruction, but knowledge of isotopic discrimination between diet and various tissues remains inadequate. In this study, we explore the sensitivity of δ34Stissue values

H, C, and O Stable Isotope Ratios of Passito Wine

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2015
In this study we investigated the effect of the grape withering process occurring during the production of Italian passito wines on the variability of the (D/H)I, (D/H)II, δ(13)C, and δ(18)O of wine ethanol and the δ(18)O of wine water. The production of PDO Erbaluce di Caluso Passito in five different cellars in Piedmont (Italy) was considered in two ...

Nanoparticle Shape Dictates Catalytic Performance in Selective Hydrogenation of Butadiene Over Au‐Pd Core‐Shell Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the exposed crystal facet of shape‐controlled Au‐Pd core‐shell catalysts though colloidal synthesis enhances their catalytic performance in the industrially relevant selective hydrogenation of butadiene. ABSTRACT Selective hydrogenation of butadiene is a critical step in purification of alkene feedstocks for polymer production and is ...

Chemical stability of levoglucosan: An isotopic perspective

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2016
The chemical stability of levoglucosan was studied by exploring its isotopic fractionation during the oxidation by hydroxyl radicals. Aqueous solutions as well as mixed (NH4)2SO4‐levoglucosan particles were exposed to OH.

Geographical Tracing of the West Lake Longjing Tea Based on the Stable Isotope Ratios

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes, 2016
The West Lake Longjing tea is a famous specialty with long history in Zhengjiang province and its price is higher than any other flatten-shaped tea. However, traders tend to sell counterfeit West Lake Longjing tea in the market to acquire higher economic

Fluorescent Nanosensor for Indole‐3‐Propionic Acid Detection in Gut Health Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a fluorescent nanosensor system with two optical modalities for detection of indole‐3‐propionic acid (IPA) gut metabolite: (1) blue‐emitting cationic conjugated polyelectrolyte (CP3) and (2) near‐infrared (NIR)‐emitting CP3‐wrapped single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT).

Searching for the Terrestrial Paleocene/Eocene Boundary at the Canadian High Arctic: A Carbon Isotope Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The Paleocene Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) is a rare climatic event in the history of the Earth, which marks the abrupt transition from the Paleocene to Eocene of the Cenozoic era with a rapid increase in global surface temperatures of up to 5-8&#;C ...

41Ca in tooth enamel. part I: A biological signature of neutron exposure in atomic bomb survivors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The detection of 41Ca atoms in tooth enamel using accelerator mass spectrometry is suggested as a method capable of reconstructing thermal neutron exposures from atomic bomb survivors in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Engineered Protein‐Based Ionic Conductors for Sustainable Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Rational incorporation of charged residues into an engineered, self‐assembling protein scaffold yields solid‐state protein films with outstanding ionic conductivity. Salt‐doping further enhances conductivity, an effect amplified in the engineered variants. These properties enable the material integration into an efficient supercapacitor.
