The Cenozoic Stratigraphy of West Kamchatka and the Development Stages of Foraminiferal Paleocommunities

Moscow University Geology Bulletin, 2020
The study of the foraminiferal communities from the Paleogene–Neogene reference section at Kvachina Bay in West Kamchatka has made it possible, based on the qualitative composition and the quantitative ratios of the encountered species, to identify 13 layers with foraminifera corresponding to certain intervals of the section and to establish their ...

Issues of the Cenozoic Stratigraphy of Western Kamchatka and the stages of evolution of the foraminifera paleocommunities

Moscow University Bulletin. Series 4. Geology, 2020
The study of the paleocommunities of foraminifera of the reference section of the Paleogene-Neogene of the Kvachin Bay in Western Kamchatka made it possible, based on the qualitative composition and quantitative ratios of the species encountered, to identify 13 layers with foraminifera corresponding to certain section intervals and to establish their ...

Carbon isotope stratigraphy and the problem of a pre-Tommotian Stage in Siberia

Geological Magazine, 2001
Carbon isotopic oscillations are useful to elucidate the stratigraphy and biogeochemical events around the Precambrian–Cambrian transition. New isotopic data from the Manykaj and Emyaksin formations of the eastern Anabar Uplift (Siberia) help to correlate the Lower Cambrian and Neoproterozoic–Cambrian transitional beds across the Siberian Platform ...

Climate, environment and stratigraphy of the last Pleistocene glacial stage in Poland

Quaternary International, 2016
Abstract The aim of the paper is to present general characteristics of the climate in Poland during the Vistulian (Weichselian), expressed by changes of its continentality during warm and cold intervals. This last glacial stage in Poland is commonly subdivided into Early Vistulian (MIS 5d-a), Lower Plenivistulian (MIS 4), Interplenivistulian (MIS 3),

Ordovician series and stages in Chinese stratigraphy: steps toward a global usage

Alcheringa: An Australasian Journal of Palaeontology, 2001
The first Chinese Ordovician series was erected by Lee & Chao (1924). Since then, many regional Ordovician series and stage names have been established and mostly published in Chinese. The present study is a review of these regional units with a discussion of their definitions and correlation to the international standard. Among them, the Ichang series,

The stratigraphy of the Callovian and Oxfordian stages (Middle-Upper Jurassic) in northern Scotland [PDF]

open access: possibleScottish Journal of Geology, 1975
Synopsis Outcrops of Middle-Upper Jurassic rocks in northern Scotland are restricted to two sedimentary basins. In the east exposures at Brora (Sutherland) and Balintore (Ross-shire) are part of the Moray Firth basin. In the west major exposures at Staffin and in Strathaird (Isle of Skye) belong to the Minch basin.

New data on ammonites and stratigraphy of the Volgian stage in Spitzbergen

Stratigraphy and Geological Correlation, 2010
The stratigraphy of the Volgian in Spitzbergen is refined based on the new fossil collections. The lower Volgian is poorly characterized by ammonites being not subdivided into zones, and the only recognized stratigraphic unit within it are the Beds with Paravirgatites sp. in the upper part of the lower Volgian.

Definition of Late Cretaceous Stage Boundaries in Antarctica Using Strontium Isotope Stratigraphy

The Journal of Geology, 2000
Abstract New 87Sr/86Sr analyses of macrofossils from 13 key marker horizons on James Ross and Vega Islands, Antarctica, allow the integration of the Antarctic Late Cretaceous succession into the standard biostratigraphic zonation schemes of the Northern Hemisphere. The 87Sr/86Sr data enable Late Cretaceous stage boundaries to be physically located with

Stratigraphy of Cenozoic Deposits and the History of the Latest Stage of Geological Development of the Zaisan Depression (Eastern Kazakhstan)

Стратиграфия, 2023
The Zaisan Basin is a unique geological structure that preserves a most complete sedimentary archive of late Mesozoic through most of the Cenozoic era. A century of studies brought very rich data on the stratigraphy and geological history of the Zaisan sedimentary sequence.

Cambrian stratigraphy and stage subdivision in the Holy Cross Mountains, Poland

Geological Magazine, 1992
AbstractThe lithostratigraphic and biostratigraphic subdivisions of the Cambrian sequence in the Holy Cross Mountains of Poland are briefly presented and discussed. In accordance with recent progress in Cambrian stratigraphy and correlation in Great Britain and Scandinavia, a new proposal for chronostratigraphic stages is made.
