The stratigraphy of the Callovian and Oxfordian stages (Middle-Upper Jurassic) in northern Scotland [PDF]

open access: possibleScottish Journal of Geology, 1975
Synopsis Outcrops of Middle-Upper Jurassic rocks in northern Scotland are restricted to two sedimentary basins. In the east exposures at Brora (Sutherland) and Balintore (Ross-shire) are part of the Moray Firth basin. In the west major exposures at Staffin and in Strathaird (Isle of Skye) belong to the Minch basin.

Stratigraphy of Cenozoic Deposits and the History of the Latest Stage of Geological Development of the Zaisan Depression (Eastern Kazakhstan)

Стратиграфия, 2023
The Zaisan Basin is a unique geological structure that preserves a most complete sedimentary archive of late Mesozoic through most of the Cenozoic era. A century of studies brought very rich data on the stratigraphy and geological history of the Zaisan sedimentary sequence.

The glacial stratigraphy of lowland southern and eastern Britain: temperate-stage deposits at Morston and Kirmington

Proceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society, 2007
SUMMARY The recent suggestion that no warm-stage deposits have yet been found separating glacial sediments in lowland southern and eastern Britain is shown to be incorrect. At Morston, on the coast of north Norfolk, an ancient beach succession with a temperate pollen assemblage rests upon till closely comparable with the Marly Drift, usually ...

Stratigraphy of the Georgina limestone and a revised zonation for the early upper Cambrian Idamean Stage

Journal of the Geological Society of Australia, 1976
Abstract Detailed mapping of 150 km2 area of pediment south of Glenormiston Station Homestead, western Queensland has shown that the lower Upper Cambrian Georgina Limestone comprises over 400 m of interbedded limestone and clastic lithologies. Limestone accounts for some 30% of the formation and constitutes two distinct facies: abundantly fossiliferous,

A sequence stratigraphy of the Kimmeridgian and Bolonian stages (late Jurassic): Wessex–Weald Basin, southern England

Journal of the Geological Society, 2001
A sequence stratigraphic framework for the late Jurassic Kimmeridgian and Bolonian stages of the Wessex–Weald Basin, southern England is proposed, based on the integration of sedimentological, geophysical and geochemical data. The NERC-funded Rapid Global Geological Events (RGGE) boreholes of Swanworth Quarry 1 and 2, and Metherhills 1, are used as ...
