Carbon isotope stratigraphy and the problem of a pre-Tommotian Stage in Siberia
Geological Magazine, 2001Carbon isotopic oscillations are useful to elucidate the stratigraphy and biogeochemical events around the Precambrian–Cambrian transition. New isotopic data from the Manykaj and Emyaksin formations of the eastern Anabar Uplift (Siberia) help to correlate the Lower Cambrian and Neoproterozoic–Cambrian transitional beds across the Siberian Platform ...

The Bashkirian Stage of Southwestern Darvaz, the Pamir Mountains: Stratigraphy and paleotectonics
Stratigraphy and Geological Correlation, 2012Sections of the Bashkirian Stage of Southwestern Darvaz (the Pamir Mountains) are described. Based on fusulinids, the presence of all four Bashkirian substages was established. The Bashkirian beds transgressively overlie clastic-volcanic series of the Lower Carboniferous, and are conformably overlain by the Moscovian (Vereian).

New data on ammonites and stratigraphy of the Volgian stage in Spitzbergen
Stratigraphy and Geological Correlation, 2010The stratigraphy of the Volgian in Spitzbergen is refined based on the new fossil collections. The lower Volgian is poorly characterized by ammonites being not subdivided into zones, and the only recognized stratigraphic unit within it are the Beds with Paravirgatites sp. in the upper part of the lower Volgian.

Conodonts from the deposits of the Mosolovian Regional Stage (Middle Devonian) of the Voronezh Anteclise are studied on the basis of the data from six boreholes. Three assemblages are recognized. The index species of the lowermost assemblage is Icriodus formosus Naz. The index species of the middle assemblage are I. formosus Naz.

Summary. Pleistocene deposits exposed at Alton Road Quarry, Farnham in 1980 have been sub-divided into two formal stratigraphical units of ‘member’ status. The ‘Wrecclesham Gravel’ is the lowest unit and consists primarily of fluvial sands and gravels.

We have constructed a eustatic sea-level curve based on the stratigraphy of the tectonically stable Russian Platform. Sea-level variations measured against this reference frame were chosen as reliably representing the long-term relation of global ocean-basin volume and ocean-water volume.

SUMMARY The recent suggestion that no warm-stage deposits have yet been found separating glacial sediments in lowland southern and eastern Britain is shown to be incorrect. At Morston, on the coast of north Norfolk, an ancient beach succession with a temperate pollen assemblage rests upon till closely comparable with the Marly Drift, usually ...

The 1500 m thick sequence of Huronian continental volcanics at Thessalon, Ontario is subdivided into 4 volcanic cycles, each of which includes abundant early mafic end-members, central intermediate flows, and late rhyolite units. Major and trace element concentrations are dominated by extensive gabbroic fractionation trends that ultimately produced two

Problems of Rhaetian stratigraphy with special reference to the lower boundary of the stage
Quarterly Journal of the Geological Society of London, 1970The use of ‘Rhaetic’ as an international lithostratigraphical term is rejected in favour of a national terminology. The establishment, type-region and a possible standard section for the Rhaetian, and a marker point for its base are discussed.

The stratigraphy of the Callovian and Oxfordian stages (Middle-Upper Jurassic) in northern Scotland
Scottish Journal of Geology, 1975Synopsis Outcrops of Middle-Upper Jurassic rocks in northern Scotland are restricted to two sedimentary basins. In the east exposures at Brora (Sutherland) and Balintore (Ross-shire) are part of the Moray Firth basin. In the west major exposures at Staffin and in Strathaird (Isle of Skye) belong to the Minch basin.
