A stagnation pressure probe for droplet-laden air flow

Journal of Propulsion and Power, 1985
It is often of interest in a droplet-laden gas flow to obtain the stagnation pressure of both the gas phase and the mixture. A flow-decelerating probe (TPF), with separate, purged ports for the gas phase and the mixture and with a bleed for accumulating liquid at the closed end, has been developed.

A Stagnation Pressure Probe for Supersonic and Subsonic Flows

Aeronautical Quarterly, 1974
SummaryThe usefulness of a probe which can sense the absolute value of the stagnation pressure in supersonic flow has long been recognised. In the past such a probe has not been available and therefore it has been necessary to infer this fundamentally important flow property from measurements of other properties.

Prediction of inviscid stagnation pressure losses in supersonic inlet flows

AIAA Journal, 1990
An effort is made to quantify the stagnation pressure losses associated with shock-wave systems that may be present in such high Mach number flows as those of scramjet hypersonic diffusers. If the shock-related contribution turns out to be much larger than that attributable to viscous effects, a designer could introduce methods for the minimization of ...

Pressure induced by a stagnating turbulent field

The Physics of Fluids, 1976
The frequency spectrum of a pressure field resulting from turbulence stagnating on a body is shown to be related to the fluctuating dynamic head through a Fourier-like transform along the mean stagnation streamline.

Isentropic air flows at high stagnation pressures

Fluid Dynamics, 1976
Calculations of the gasdynamic parameters of air using different equations of state for a real gas in one-dimensional formulation were carried out in [1-3]. The results from these papers are of a limited nature, as the equation of state of a real gas, which occurs in the system of starting equations, is valid for a quite narrow range of total pressures

Numerical investigation on the impact pressure induced by a cavitation bubble collapsing near a solid wall

The Physics of Fluids, 2023
Cavitation erosion often occurs on the surface of many underwater applications, which can cause severe damage to materials and reduce their performance. Since the cause of erosion is the impact pressure induced by the collapse of an individual cavitation

A Pneumatic Probe for Measuring Spatial Derivatives of Stagnation Pressure

Volume 6: Ceramics; Controls, Diagnostics, and Instrumentation; Education; Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy, 2019
Abstract This paper introduces a pneumatic 9-hole probe which can measure flow angles, stagnation and static pressures, and spatial derivatives of stagnation pressure. It does this through direct measurement at a single location, rather than empirical corrections using measurements at multiple points.

The Effect of Nonuniform Viscosity on Stagnation Point Pressure

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2011
For high Reynolds number flows the total pressure remains constant along stream lines. At low Reynolds numbers the total pressure decreases in a global sense due to the actions of viscosity, but it may increase locally in regions such as stagnation points. Previous studies have considered the case of constant viscosity flow.
