Impinging Performance of High-Pressure Water Jets Emitting from Different Nozzle Orifice Shapes

open access: yesGeofluids, 2020
The impinging pressure of a water jet is a key factor in engineering applications, and the jet shape has a great influence on this pressure. In this paper, five different nozzle shapes were designed, and impacting tests were conducted based on a self ...

Research on flow field characteristic of close-coupled gas atomizing nozzles

open access: yesFenmo yejin jishu
The atomization nozzle is the core component for the metal powder preparation by close-coupled gas atomization method. The pressure at the tip of the melt delivery tube and the stagnation point is very important for the smooth outflow of the molten metal

A Physical Interpretation of Stagnation Pressure and Enthalpy Changes in Unsteady Flow [PDF]

open access: yesVolume 7: Turbomachinery, Parts A and B, 2009
This paper provides a physical interpretation of the mechanism of stagnation enthalpy and stagnation pressure changes in turbomachines due to unsteady flow, the agency for all work transfer between a turbomachine and an inviscid fluid. Examples are first given to illustrate the direct link between the time variation of static pressure seen by a given ...

Spatiotemporal Variability of Air Stagnation and its Relation to Summertime Ozone in the Yangtze River Delta of China

open access: yesFrontiers in Environmental Science, 2021
This paper investigates the spatiotemporal variability of air stagnation in summer as well as its relation to summer ozone (O3) over the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region of China. Air stagnation days (ASDs) in the YRD during the summers from 2001 to 2017

Definition of vortex boundary using stagnation pressure

open access: yesPhysical Review Fluids
A novel method is proposed to identify vortex boundary and center of rotation based on tubular surfaces of constant stagnation pressure and minimum of the stagnation pressure gradient. The method is derived from Crocco's theorem, which ensures that the gradient of stagnation pressure is orthogonal to both the velocity and vorticity vectors.
