Impact of Stagnation Temperature and Nozzle Configuration on Rarefied Jet Plume Interactions [PDF]

open access: greenJournal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 2022
The canting axis of thrusters on space platforms, which likely operate in a vacuum environment with a high degree of flow rarefaction, is significant in order to create the desired torque for manoeuvring, maintaining orbit, eliminating perturbation forces, docking, etc.

Shotgun Metagenomics Reveals Taxonomic and Functional Shifts in Hot Water Microbiome Due to Temperature Setting and Stagnation

open access: goldFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Hot water premise plumbing has emerged as a critical nexus of energy, water, and public health. The composition of hot water microbiomes is of special interest given daily human exposure to resident flora, especially opportunistic pathogens (OPs), which ...

Stagnation temperature measurement using thin-film platinum resistance sensors [PDF]

open access: yesMeasurement Science and Technology, 2013
The measurement of stagnation temperature in high-speed flows is an important aspect of gas turbine engine testing. The ongoing requirement to improve the accuracy of such measurements has led to the development of probe systems that use a thin-film platinum resistance thermometer (PRT) as the sensing element. For certain aspects of engine testing this

The Effects of Thermal Radiation on an Unsteady MHD Axisymmetric Stagnation-Point Flow over a Shrinking Sheet in Presence of Temperature Dependent Thermal Conductivity with Navier Slip

open access: goldPLoS ONE, 2015
In this paper, the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) axisymmetric stagnation-point flow of an unsteady and electrically conducting incompressible viscous fluid in with temperature dependent thermal conductivity, thermal radiation and Navier slip is investigated.

Flat Plate Aluminum Heat Pipe Collector with Inherently Limited Stagnation Temperature

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2014
This paper presents a new flat plate collector technology based on heat pipes. The use of heat pipes can lead to several advantages over direct flow collectors: A simple hydraulic interconnection, an inherently limited stagnation temperature and substitution of copper.

Effect of the stagnation temperature on the normal shock wave

open access: yesJournal of Computational Methods in Sciences and Engineering, 2009
When the stagnation temperature increases, the specific heat does not remain constant and start to vary with this temperature. The gas is perfect; its state equation remains always valid, except, it was called by calorically imperfect gas or gas at high temperature.

Stagnating surface tension below boiling temperature during laser illumination

open access: diamondIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering
Abstract Many laser processes include melting of material. Often, the material is overheated and reaches temperatures close or even above boiling temperature. However, many material properties at such high temperatures are often not known.

Correlation for Wall-Temperature Oscillations in Unsteady Stagnation Point Convective Heating

open access: hybridInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer
The purpose of this paper is to provide insight into how unsteady ow temperature aects the wall temperature of test articles exposed to convective heating. To this end, a simplied analytical correlation is derived that allows the determination of wall temperature uctuation amplitude in the case of an unsteady freestream.
