Predicted Gas Properties in the Shock Layer Ahead of Capsule-Type Vehicles at Angles of Attack [PDF]

open access: yes
A method for determining shock-wave shapes, stagnation-point location, and flow-field properties for spherically blunt bodies at angle of attack was developed. The method is applicable to perfect gas flows and equilibrium flow of real gases.

Development and implementation experience of a learning healthcare system for facility based newborn care in low resource settings: The Neotree

open access: yesLearning Health Systems, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Introduction Improving peri‐ and postnatal facility‐based care in low‐resource settings (LRS) could save over 6000 babies' lives per day. Most of the annual 2.4 million neonatal deaths and 2 million stillbirths occur in healthcare facilities in LRS and are preventable through the implementation of cost‐effective, simple, evidence‐based ...

Influence of heterogeneous-homogeneous reactions in thermally stratified stagnation point flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2016
This communication explores the effects of homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions in thermally stratified mixed convection flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid. Flow situation is addressed when the diffusion coefficients of the reactant and auto catalyst are equal ...

Flat Plate Aluminum Heat Pipe Collector with Inherently Limited Stagnation Temperature

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2014
This paper presents a new flat plate collector technology based on heat pipes. The use of heat pipes can lead to several advantages over direct flow collectors: A simple hydraulic interconnection, an inherently limited stagnation temperature and substitution of copper.

Modified Oxymethylene Ethers Based on Technical Alcohol Mixtures and their Fuel Properties

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A modified oxymethylene ether (OME) synthesis based on C5 and C9 technical alcohol mixtures was developed. The produced compounds can be employed as neat fuel or as blending component for fossil or paraffinic diesel fuels. The modification of OME offers the possibility to adjust desired properties, enabling the evaluation of new application fields ...

Effects of Liquid Transpiration Cooling on Heat Transfer to the Diverging Region of a Porous-Walled Nozzle [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
This research effort investigated the effects of evaporation of water on the heat transferred to the wall of the diverging portion of a porous walled nozzle The AFIT High Pressure Shock Tube was used with a two-dimensional Mach 3 nozzle. One flat surface

Fines deposition during hydrotreating: Effects of catalyst size and bed arrangement

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Fines deposition presents a significant problem during the hydrotreating of bitumen‐derived gas oils. The accumulation of fines leads to reactor clogging and consequently, pressure drop buildup. At critical levels, the hydrotreating reactor must be prematurely shutdown, resulting in substantial economic losses for refineries.

Size‐Dependency of Electrochemically Grown Copper Nanoclusters Derived from Single Copper Atoms for the CO Reduction Reaction

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
The relationship between the size of Cu nanoclusters (CuNCs) derived from single‐atom catalysts and the performance of the CO reduction reaction was systematically examined. Larger CuNCs, characterized by a higher proportion of terrace surfaces that facilitate CO dimerization, demonstrated enhanced C2+ selectivity and formation rates.
