A review of strategies for the control of high temperature stagnation in solar collectors and systems

open access: goldEnergy Procedia, 2012
AbstractHigh temperatures occurring during stagnation conditions can be very detrimental to the reliability, durability and safety of solar thermal systems. Various approaches to mitigate the effects to stagnation have been employed in the past, however as collector and system efficiencies improve, and larger solar systems are installed, the need for ...

An Improved Real--Space Genetic Algorithm for Crystal Structure and Polymorph Prediction [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B 77, 134117 2008, 2008
Existing Genetic Algorithms for crystal structure and polymorph prediction can suffer from stagnation during evolution, with a consequent loss of efficiency and accuracy. An improved Genetic Algorithm (GA) is introduced herein which penalizes similar structures and so enhances structural diversity in the population at each generation.

Stagnation temperature effect on the conical shock with application for air

open access: hybridChinese Journal of Aeronautics, 2018
Abstract The aim of this work is to realize a new numerical program based on the development of a mathematical model allowing determining the parameters of the supersonic flow through a conical shock under hypothesis at high temperature, in the context of correcting the perfect gas model.

Species separation and modification of neutron diagnostics in inertial-confinement fusion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The different behaviours of deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in the hot spot of marginally-igniting cryogenic DT inertial-confinement fusion (ICF) targets are investigated with an ion Fokker-Planck model. With respect to an equivalent single-species model, a higher density and a higher temperature are found for T in the stagnation phase of the target ...

Butane Heat Pipes for Stagnation Temperature Reduction of Solar Thermal Collectors

open access: goldEnergy Procedia, 2016
Heat pipes in solar thermal collectors enable to reduce the temperature loads in the solar circuit during stagnation periods by exploiting their dry out limit. Typically water, pentane or acetone are used as heat transfer media in collector heat pipes.

Thermal Structure of Turbulent Stagnating Opposed Jets with Different Temperature.

open access: bronzeTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1997
Fluctuating temperature has been measured using a laser Rayleigh scattering technique along a centerline of turbulent stagnating opposed jets (cold jet velocity : 2m/s) with different temperatures up to about 400°C. The temperature signals show that the temperature fluctuation is characterized by spike type fluctuations with a sharp increase or ...

Facile Synthesis of Uranium Complexes with a Pendant Borane Lewis Acid and 1,2‐Insertion of CO into a U−N Bond

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 134, Issue 51, December 19, 2022., 2022
Reactions between the highly strained uranacycle I with various boranes afford unprecedented uranium complexes bearing either a pendant borate or a pendant borane Lewis acid. The latter promotes the 1,2‐insertion of CO into a UIV‐N bond. Abstract In this contribution, we illustrate uranium complexes bearing a pendant borate (i.e.
