Micro‐ and Macrostructure Effects on Hydrogen Release Using 3D‐Printed Reactor‐Catalysts

open access: yesChemical Engineering &Technology, Volume 49, Issue 6, June 2026.
Not by its cover: We show here that the internal structure of a hydrogen generation reactor can govern the rates of reaction through a combination of efficient mass transfer and pore access, which can be optimized using metal 3D printing. ABSTRACT We report the design, fabrication, and testing of 3D‐printed Al–stainless steel reactor‐catalyst monoliths

Performance of PBF‐Printed Micro‐Channel Bipolar Plates as a Function of Flow‐Field Parameters and Plane Area

open access: yesFuel Cells, Volume 26, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT SUS 316L bipolar plates (BPPs) with rectangular micro‐channels for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) were fabricated using powder bed fusion (PBF) technology, and the effects of flow‐field structure parameters (channel width, rib width, and channel depth) on fuel cell performance were analyzed.

Fabrication of Mo-encapsulated stainless steel by powder metallurgy and assessment of localized corrosion resistance

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
As a source of corrosion inhibitors, 2.5% Mo powder was mixed with Type 304L stainless steel powder and spark-plasma sintered to a fabricate Mo-encapsulated Type 304L stainless steel. The Mo particles formed a core/shell structure.

Microstructure Characteristics and Strength–Ductility Mechanisms of a Novel Neutron Shielding Al‐6Mg‐5Gd Alloy Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Al‐based neutron shielding materials suffer from poor laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) processibility, hindering their simultaneous achievement of good printability and exceptional mechanical properties. In this work, the newly developed rare‐earth Al alloy (i.e., Al‐6Mg‐5Gd) was processed by LPBF technique to meet the printability, mechanical ...

Enhancing pitting resistance of stainless steel by surface cleaning through potentiostatic pulse technique

open access: yesCorrosion Communications
Enhancing pitting resistance is essential for stainless steel. This study compares the pitting resistance of two austenitic stainless steels, 316L and 316H, before and after Potentiostatic Pulse Technique (PPT).
