Beyond Bioenergetics: Moonlighting Functions of F1FO‐ATPase From ATP Synthesis to an ATP‐Wasting Death Switch

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mitochondrial F1FO‐ATPase is classically viewed as the “splendid” rotary nanomachine that sustains life by converting the proton‐motive force (pmf) into ATP. Yet this same complex can adopt a second, context‐dependent function that links bioenergetics to cell fate.

Tactical and Strategic Risks From Supply Disruptions in Competing Supply Chains

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Supply chain disruptions can lead to both tactical (i.e., loss of short‐term sales during a disruption) and strategic (i.e., loss of long‐term market share) consequences. We model the impact of a supply disruption on competing supply chains in which two firms compete for a limited backup supply.

Taxonomy and phylogeny of the intercontinental disjunctive ferns: series Reniformia Adiantum

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
There are disputed opinions about the three taxa of series Reniformia, namely A. nelumboides X.C.Zhang (A. reniforme var. sinense Y.X.Lin), A. reniforme var. reniforme, and A. reniforme var. asarifolium (Willd.) R. Sim, owing to their similar morphology but intercontinental disjunctive distribution and close lineage with the series Venusta (only ...

Reducing Ammonia Emission during Food Waste Composting and Enhancing Compost Quality Using Different Additives

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
This research successfully reduces the ammonia emission by 45% and achieves good quality compost using additives (lactic acid or acetic acid) and bulking agents (mature compost or sawdust). The study supports Sustainable Development Goals 12 and 13 by promoting waste‐to‐resource option.
