The AAA+ ATPase Valosin‐containing protein (VCP/p97) regulates protein homeostasis by unfolding ubiquitinated substrates. Here, we describe UTE‐156, a novel irreversible covalent inhibitor that modifies Cys522 in the D2 ATPase motor domain. Although its pharmacochemical limitations preclude immediate therapeutic use, UTE‐156 serves as a valuable ...

Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of male cancer death, yet screening cannot reliably identify aggressive disease, underscoring the need for tissue biomarkers. It is shown that primary tumors increase ER–plasma membrane junction signaling via STIM1/ORP5, whereas metastasis features their loss, Golgi dispersal, and rapid conversion of high‐mannose

Short-scale break-up in unsteady interactive layers: Local development of normal pressure gradients and vortex wind-up [PDF]
Following the finite-time collapse of an unsteady interacting boundary layer (step 1), shortened length and time scales are examined here in the near-wall dynamics of transitional-turbulent boundary layers or during dynamic stall.

It is currently not well understood how cells regulate basic properties, e.g., volume and mechanics within dense multicellular environments like tumors. Here, we show that different cell types of cancer and also normal cells largely decrease their nuclear and cellular volumes in emerging cell clusters and that this is partly driven by cell cycle shifts.

Fluid mechanics mechanisms in the stall process of helicopters [PDF]
Recent experimental results from airfoils in the Mach number, Reynolds number, or reduced frequency ranges typical of helicopter rotor blades have identified the most influential flow mechanisms in the dynamic stall process.

Propagation of stall in a compressor blade row [PDF]
Recent experimental observations on compressors, in particular those of Rannie and Iura, have clarified some features of the phenomenon of stall propagation.

Investigating Phase Separation in Genome Folding via Multiscale Computational Modeling
Phase separation is emerging as a multiscale organizing principle of genome folding across scales, from nucleosomes and transcriptional condensates to chromatin domains and nuclear compartments. By integrating physics‐based simulations with data‐driven inference, computational modeling now links molecular interactions to nuclear architecture and points

Farmers’ Protests in Germany: Media Coverage and Types of Bias
ABSTRACT The German farmers’ protests of 2024 sparked widespread media coverage and public debate. Yet, media coverage was not always positive, reflecting the media's attention‐seeking and selective focus. Occurrences of farmers blocking media outlets reflected distrust in how their concerns were portrayed.

Horizontal-axis tidal turbine blade loading for multi-frequency oscillatory motion [PDF]
This paper presents results from an experimental study which analysed the hydrodynamic response of the out-of-plane blade root bending moment for a horizontal-axis turbine exposed to multi-frequency oscillatory motion.
