Comparing Genome Sequencing Methods to Reconstruct the Spread of Piscine Myocarditis Virus in Ireland

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 48, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Piscine myocarditis virus (PMCV), a double‐stranded RNA virus, is the causative agent of cardiomyopathy syndrome (CMS) in Atlantic salmon Salmo salar, which was first reported in Ireland in 2012. PMCV continues to be a disease threat to Atlantic salmon aquaculture in Ireland, and as such, it is of growing importance to understand how the virus

Excited Baryons in the 1/N_c Expansion

open access: yes, 2005
We review results for the mass spectrum of orbitally excited baryons obtained in the $1/N_c$ expansion. We show the dependence of various contributions to the mass operator as a function of the excitation energy.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, based on a ...

White Paper on Nutrition Sensing and Ageing

open access: yesNutrition Bulletin, Volume 50, Issue 3, Page 505-513, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Ageing, which is defined as the progressive deterioration of physiological functions, is an inevitable part of the lifecycle. Nevertheless, its progress is believed to be influenced by modifiable factors, one of the most important being dietary intake.

Baryon resonances in large $N_c$ QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The baryon spectra are discussed in the context of the $1/N_c$ expansion approach, with emphasis on mixed symmetric states. The contributions of the spin dependent terms as a function of the excitation energy are shown explicitly. At large energies these

Transgenerational Reproductive and Developmental Toxicity Induced by N‐Nitrosodimethylamine and Its Metabolite Formaldehyde in Drosophila melanogaster

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, Volume 45, Issue 5, Page 841-857, May 2025.
ABSTRACT N‐Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) is a known water disinfection byproduct (DBP) characterized as a potent hepatotoxin, promutagen, and probable human carcinogen; this is because of the metabolites associated with its biotransformation. The metabolism of NDMA produces formaldehyde, another alkylating agent and DBP. Both compounds are generated from

Approximation properties of Jain-Stancu operators

open access: yesFilomat, 2016
In the present paper, we introduce the Stancu type Jain operators, which generalize the wellknown Sz?sz-Mirakyan operators via Lagrange expansion. We investigate their weighted approximation properties and compute the error of approximation by using the modulus of continuity.

Highly Excited Baryons in Large $N_c$ QCD

open access: yes, 2005
We use the $1/N_c$ expansion of QCD to analyse the spectrum of positive parity resonances with strangeness $S = 0, -1, -2$ and -3 in the 2--3 GeV mass region, supposed to belong to the $[\textbf{56},4^+]$ multiplet.

Agricultural crisis, refugee crisis, or health crisis? Migrant seasonal workers in Italian agriculture during the COVID pandemic

open access: yesInternational Migration, Volume 63, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract The concept of crisis has been widely used to describe European social phenomena which have become acute and unmanageable in recent years. Exceptionality and emergency have become attributes of the political strategies developed to address the economic, social, and environmental unsustainability of industrial farming; the flow of forced ...

Fostering Sustainable Retail Business Innovations by Understanding Consumer Acceptance of Food Waste Reducing Business Models

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, Volume 34, Issue 3, Page 3271-3293, March 2025.
ABSTRACT The problem of food waste is increasingly being tackled via revenue‐generating activities such as the retailing of surplus food products. Little scholarly attention has been paid to the role of the consumer in such business models, even though consumers' perceptions and purchasing decisions are crucial to the acceptance of business innovations.
