Innovative solutions for stand alone system powering

INTELEC 07 - 29th International Telecommunications Energy Conference, 2007
In the paper, possible hybrid configurations of low power stand alone systems based on renewable energy sources (RES) and alternative sources, suitable for applications in remote areas not connected to the grid such as radio base stations for mobile phone communications, are described and compared. As practical case, different alternative solutions for

Stand-Alone Power Systems with IGBT Inverter

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
This article is an overview of research in fault diagnosis, detection, and reconfiguration. The review particularly focuses on power electronic applications and drives. Diagnostics of systems with conventional inverter drives (CID) is considered because knowledge of fault diagnosis in CIDs can be used for application in other inverter drive topologies;

Study on UFLS Strategy in a Stand-alone Power System

2018 4th International Conference on Green Technology and Sustainable Development (GTSD), 2018
Under-frequency load shedding (UFLS) strategy provides a special protection scheme while severe events occur in the power system. This paper presents an UFLS strategy for an offshore standalone power system near Taiwan. The proposed UFLS strategy defines a fixed percentage, which will be allocated to 4 stages, of total system load.

Stand-Alone Renewable Hybrid Power Generation System

2012 IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference, 2012
This paper presents the proposed design of a compact stand-alone hybrid power generation system using wind-solar resources. This system can be implemented in national highways where wind can be collected due to the high speed motion of vehicles and at the same time the solar energy from the ambient will also be collected.

Designing an autonomous power system for a stand-alone heliostat

2016 IEEE Green Energy and Systems Conference (IGSEC), 2016
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) offers a number of advantages over photovoltaic at large scale power generation, such as lower cost and the option of thermal energy storage. However, the costs of a power tower plant are dominated by heliostats, which are usually 50% of the entire facility.

Stand alone solar powering for fiber-in-the-loop systems

[Proceedings] Fourteenth International Telecommunications Energy Conference - INTELEC '92, 2003
A key concern in fiber-in-the-loop systems is reliable powering of end-loop optical network units (ONUs). The technical and economical feasibility of using stand alone solar-photovoltaic (SAS) systems for powering these units is examined. Arrays of photovoltaic cells located at or near the ONU are connected to a battery and the ONU electronics.
