Stand alone solar powering for fiber-in-the-loop systems
[Proceedings] Fourteenth International Telecommunications Energy Conference - INTELEC '92, 2003A key concern in fiber-in-the-loop systems is reliable powering of end-loop optical network units (ONUs). The technical and economical feasibility of using stand alone solar-photovoltaic (SAS) systems for powering these units is examined. Arrays of photovoltaic cells located at or near the ONU are connected to a battery and the ONU electronics.

Performance monitoring of solar stand alone power systems
2010 IEEE International Energy Conference, 2010Performance monitoring of solar photovoltaic (PV) power systems is very essential for initial system evaluation, and continuous output optimization. Currently, PV system monitoring is complicated and expensive and limited to large scale grid connected solar PV plants.

Stand-Alone Wind Power System with Improved Light-Power Efficiency
2020 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2020A new interleaved buck converter is proposed in this paper to improve the performance of the battery charger of a stand-alone wind turbine. The converter uses just a single active auxiliary circuit to assist all the main converter switches operate with ZCS and operates with ZCS itself. This circuit does not increase the peak voltage or current stresses

Soft Phase Locked Loop for Active Power Filter Applied in Small Rating Stand-alone Power System
2007 IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference, 2007Traditional LC filters can't work stably in small rating stand-alone power system. So active power filter (APF) is becoming an important tool to solve the power quality problem in small rating stand-alone power system.

Designing an autonomous power system for a stand-alone heliostat
2016 IEEE Green Energy and Systems Conference (IGSEC), 2016Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) offers a number of advantages over photovoltaic at large scale power generation, such as lower cost and the option of thermal energy storage. However, the costs of a power tower plant are dominated by heliostats, which are usually 50% of the entire facility.

Power conditioning supercapacitors in combination with batteries for stand-alone power systems
International Symposium on Power Electronics Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2012Stand-alone power systems are a challenging option to supply remote equipments in many applications. They include renewable energy generators whose intermittent power supply requires an appropriate energy storage component to balance the power mismatch between the generation and the demand. Batteries are the obvious choice for this purpose.
