Individual-Tree Models for Even-Aged Stands
2012Individual-tree models consist of a system of equations to simulate stand dynamics by incrementing each tree during a growth period in relation to its growing conditions. Tree growth and mortality are aggregated to provide estimates of stand growth and yield.

Diameter-Distribution Models for Even-Aged Stands
2012Overall stand volume is sufficient for many purposes, but effective forest management and planning often requires information about the distribution of volume by size and product classes. This chapter provides an in-depth treatment of techniques for estimating yields by size class using a distribution function approach.

Even-Aged Development of Mixed-Species Stands
Journal of Forestry, 1980Abstract Forests in the eastern and northwestern United States often develop in even-aged patterns, with certain species predictably forming the upper canopy and others relegated to lower strata. The vertical sorting (or stratification) by species and broad ranges of diameters has sometimes led foresters and ecologists to assume these ...

Thinning Loblolly Pine in Even-Aged Stands
Journal of Forestry, 1935Abstract Second-growth or old-field southern pine stands are frequently very dense, with the individual trees so badly crowded that their rate of growth is very slow. This actual stagnation of growth brought about by intense competition, however, can usually be avoided or corrcted by a thinning, made for the specific purpose of ...

Promotion of teamwork in mountain thinning stands of middle-aged broadleaf stands
Glasnik za šumske pokuse, 2005The paper presents the research results and the optimisation of teamwork in the exploitation of broadleaf thinning stands in a hilly area. The field research was carried out in the forestry administration area of Bjelovar, the management unit of Ivanska Prigorska Šuma, with a team consisting of six workers.
