Group additive values for the gas phase standard enthalpy of formation of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon radicals.

open access: yesJournal of Physical Chemistry A, 2005
A complete and consistent set of 95 Benson group additive values (GAV) for the standard enthalpy of formation of hydrocarbons and hydrocarbon radicals at 298 K and 1 bar is derived from an extensive and accurate database of 233 ab initio standard ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Thermodynamic prediction of biogas production and combustion: The spontaneity and energy conversion efficiency from photosynthesis to combustion

open access: yesScientific African, 2023
Due to inappropriate energy consumption and subpar waste management, the growing population leads to an increase in energy demand and environmental damage. The creation of biogas enhances the management of organic waste and provides renewable energy. The

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Thermodynamic Properties of the First-Generation Hybrid Dendrimer with “Carbosilane Core/Phenylene Shell” Structure

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
The molar heat capacity of the first-generation hybrid dendrimer with a “carbosilane core/phenylene shell” structure was measured for the first time in the temperature range T = 6–600 K using a precise adiabatic vacuum calorimeter and DSC.

Laser Metal Deposition of Aluminum Alloys 7075 and 5083 with the Addition of Volatile Alloying Elements through Powder Blending

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser metal deposition of aluminum alloys EN AW‐7075 and EN AW‐5083, using powder blending to compensate zinc and magnesium evaporation. In situ alloying and ex situ alloying with ZnAl12 and AZ91 preserve near‐standard compositions and improve mechanical properties.

Enhanced Oxidation and Thermal Shock Resistance of N‐type Mg2Si0.89(Sn0.1,Sb0.01) Thermoelectric Material via Cr0.9Si0.1 Coating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cr0.9Si0.1 protective coatings are developed to enhance the thermal‐shock and oxidation resistance of Mg2Si0.89(Sn0.1,Sb0.01) thermoelectric (TE) materials. The coating forms a dense and adherent barrier that suppresses oxygen diffusion and mitigates mechanical degradation during cyclic oxidation, demonstrating its potential to improve the long‐term ...
