Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

Tropological sigma models

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
With the use of mathematical techniques of tropical geometry, it was shown by Mikhalkin some twenty years ago that certain Gromov-Witten invariants associated with topological quantum field theories of pseudoholomorphic maps can be computed by going to ...

Selection criteria for linear regression models to estimate individual tree biomasses in the Atlantic Rain Forest, Brazil

open access: yesCarbon Balance and Management, 2018
Background Biomass models are useful for several purposes, especially for quantifying carbon stocks and dynamics in forests. Selecting appropriate equations from a fitted model is a process which can involves several criteria, some widely used and others

1D Light‐Emitting MAPbBr3 Perovskite Encapsulated in Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Encapsulation of MAPbBr3 perovskite in single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) yields a hybrid nanomaterial with distinctive optoelectronic properties. Perovskite confinement induces a unified single‐peak photoluminescence (PL) with a reduced lifetime, while charge transfer alters the optical properties of nanotubes.

Shedding light on evanescent shadows — Exploration of non-anticommuting γ 5 in Dimensional Regularisation

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
The mathematical consistency of the BMHV scheme of dimensional regularisation (DReg) comes at the cost of requiring symmetry-restoring counterterms to cancel the regularisation-induced breaking of gauge and BRST invariance.

An optimisation model for minimising changes in frequency allocations

open access: yesEURO Journal on Computational Optimization, 2022
In this paper we deal with a problem associated with frequency assignment. Suppose we have a number of transmitters, each of which has been allocated a frequency.

Reduced Numerical Approximation of Reduced Fluid-Structure Interaction Problems With Applications in Hemodynamics

open access: yesFrontiers in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, 2018
This paper deals with fast simulations of the hemodynamics in large arteries by considering a reduced model of the associated fluid-structure interaction problem, which in turn allows an additional reduction in terms of the numerical discretisation.

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...

Conformally Perforated Shellular Metamaterials with Tunable Thermomechanical and Acoustic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces Conformally Perforated Shellular Metamaterials (CPSMs), which overcome TPMS design limitations by mapping 2D cellular layouts onto 3D surfaces. CPSMs exhibit enhanced elastic stiffness, thermal conductivity, and acoustic performance compared to intact P‐type shellulars, demonstrating their potential as multifunctional ...

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...
