Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Harris Hawks Optimization for Optimum Design of Truss Structures with Discrete Variables [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematical, Engineering and Management Sciences, 2021
This article investigates the use of Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) to solve planar and spatial trusses with design variables that are discrete. The original HHO has been used to solve continuous design variables problems.

Finite element analysis of non-isothermal multiphase porous media in dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This work presents a mathematical and a numerical model for the analysis of the thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) behavior of multiphase deformable porous materials in dynamics.

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Similarity Self/Ideal Index (SSI): A Feature-Based Approach to Modeling Psychological Well-Being

open access: yesMathematics
This paper introduces a similarity index aimed at modeling psychological well-being through a set-theoretic formalization of self–ideal alignment. Inspired by Tversky’s feature-based model of similarity, the proposed index quantifies the degree of ...

A Cycle-Based Formulation and Valid Inequalities for DC Power Transmission Problems with Switching

open access: yes, 2015
It is well-known that optimizing network topology by switching on and off transmission lines improves the efficiency of power delivery in electrical networks. In fact, the USA Energy Policy Act of 2005 (Section 1223) states that the U.S.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
