A Robust Dual‐mode Self‐Monitoring Battery Thermal Management System via Bilayer Structural Design

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An adaptive dual‐mode material capable of both evaporative cooling and photothermal preheating is developed. It achieves a cooling efficiency of 53.9%, surpassing existing evaporative cooling counterparts, and a self‐monitoring capability, making it ideal for electric vehicles, portable electronics, and grid‐scale energy storage.

Photocatalytic Versus Stoichiometric Hydrogen Generation Using Mesoporous Silicon Catalysts: The Complex Role of Sacrificial Reagents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study highlights the importance of accounting for stoichiometric hydrogen produced when utilizing Si photocatalysts. The stoichiometric contribution is sacrificial reagent dependent and decreases with increasing sterics around the catalyst surface.

Stealth Non-standard-model Confined Flare Eruptions: Sudden Reconnection Events in Ostensibly Inert Magnetic Arches from Sunspots

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We report seven examples of a long-ignored type of confined solar flare eruption that does not fit the standard model for confined flare eruptions. Because they are confined eruptions, do not fit the standard model, and unexpectedly erupt in ostensibly ...

Time Series-Based Load Flow Simulation Algorithm for Distributed Generation in Distribution Networks

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
This paper proposes a load flow model to estimate the actual power output by incorporating time series data for solar irradiance and wind speed at a specific location.

Quantification of Power Losses of the Interdigitated Metallization of Crystalline Silicon Thin-Film Solar Cells on Glass

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2012
The metallization grid pattern is one of the most important design elements for high-efficiency solar cells. This paper presents a model based on the unit cell approach to accurately quantify the power losses of a specialized interdigitated metallization

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Implementation of a new bi-directional solar modelling method for complex facades within the ESP-r building simulation program [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper provides an overview of a new method for modelling the total solar energy transmittance. It is implemented in the ESP-r building simulation program to model complex façades such as double glazed façades with external, internal or integrated ...
