Could Maximum SUV be Used as Imaging Guidance in Large Lung Lesions Biopsies? Double Sampling Under PET-CT/XperGuide Fusion Imaging in Inhomogeneous Lung Uptaking Lesions to Show That it can Make a Difference

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment, 2023
Introduction: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic value of positron emission computed tomography-cone beam computed tomography (PET/CT-CBCT) fusion guided percutaneous biopsy, targeted to the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax)

Post-acquisition standardization of positron emission tomography images

open access: yesFrontiers in Nuclear Medicine, 2023
PurposeTissue radiotracer activity measured from positron emission tomography (PET) images is an important biomarker that is clinically utilized for diagnosis, staging, prognostication, and treatment response assessment in patients with cancer and other ...

Vacuolar transport and function of Saccharomyces cerevisiae sterol ester hydrolase Tgl1

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tgl1, one of yeast sterol ester hydrolases, had been found on the lipid droplets where sterol esters are mainly stored. This study revealed that Tgl1 is transported into the vacuole depending on the ESCRT‐I–III complex, and that it exhibits intra‐vacuolar sterol ester hydrolase activity.

Utility of flouro-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography in the diagnostic and staging evaluation of patients with primary CNS lymphoma

open access: yesCNS Oncology, 2019
Aim: To prospectively assess the clinical utility of pretreatment flouro-deoxy-glucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) in patients with primary central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma (PCNSL). Materials & methods: Patients

Targeting EZH2 reverses thyroid cell dedifferentiation and enhances iodide uptake in anaplastic thyroid cancer

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Anaplastic thyroid cancer (ATC) lacks iodide uptake ability due to MAPK activation increasing the expression of the histone methyltransferase EZH2, which represses thyroid differentiation genes (TDGs) such as the sodium iodide symporter (NIS). Dual inhibition of MAPK (U0126) and EZH2 (EPZ6438/Tazemetostat) reverses this mechanism, thus restoring TDG ...

Radiosynthesis, in vitro and preliminary in vivo evaluation of the novel glutamine derived PET tracers [18F]fluorophenylglutamine and [18F]fluorobiphenylglutamine

open access: yes, 2020
INTRODUCTION: Glucose has been deemed the driving force of tumor growth for decades. However, research has shown that several tumors metabolically shift towards glutaminolysis.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

Thyroid lesions incidentally detected by 18F-FDG PET-CT ― a two centre retrospective study

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology, 2015
Background. Incidental 18F-FDG uptake in the thyroid on PET-CT examinations represents a diagnostic challenge. The maximal standardized uptake value (SUVmax) is one possible parameter that can help in distinguishing between benign and malignant thyroid ...

The Strategies to Homogenize PET/CT Metrics: The Case of Onco-Haematological Clinical Trials

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2016
Positron emission tomography (PET) has been a widely used tool in oncology for staging lymphomas for a long time. Recently, several large clinical trials demonstrated its utility in therapy management during treatment, paving the way to personalized ...
