Urban green spaces experience a mix of natural and anthropogenic noises, which could disrupt the vocal communication of several species. This study investigated how such complex soundscapes affect the occurrence of Anaxipha pallidula, which communicates through calls, focusing on both sound level and quality.

Global change reshapes glomalin‐mediated soil carbon sequestration by influencing plant inputs
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Glomalin‐related soil protein (GRSP), a by‐product of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF), plays a crucial role in stabilizing soil organic carbon (SOC). Global change factors (GCFs) such as elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2), climate warming and anthropogenic ...

Shifted tableaux, schur Q-functions, and a conjecture of R. Stanley
We present an analog of the Robinson-Schensted correspondence that applies to shifted Young tableaux and is considerably simpler than the one proposed in [\textit{B. E. Sagan}, J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 27, 10-18 (1979; Zbl 0428.05005)]. In addition, this algorithm enjoys many of the important properties of the original Robinson-Schensted map including ...

Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract It is widely documented that many crops depend on animal—and primarily insect—pollination, but the degree to which pollinators limit yield in comparison with other factors is poorly understood.

Governments, Home Ownership and Low‐Cost Home Ownership Initiatives
Abstract Widening the spectrum of households who can enter home ownership has been a long‐established policy in the UK. This article explores low‐cost home ownership initiatives from the late 1970s onwards and in the context of home ownership more generally. Over the decades, government support for home ownership has shifted from making tax concessions

Proof of a conjecture of Stanley about Stern's array
Stanley, building on work of Stern, defined an array of numbers by the recurrence $s(n, 2k) = s(n-1, k)$, $s(n, 2k+1) = s(n-1, k) + s(n-1, k+1)$. Stanley showed that, for each positive integer $r$, the sequence $s_n^r:= \sum_k s(n,k)^r$ obeys a homogeneous linear recurrence in $n$ of length $r/2+O(1)$. Numerical evidence, however, suggested that $s_n^r$
