Expanded Functional Characterization and Optimization of Protein Expression in Treponema denticola Shuttle Plasmids

open access: yesMolecular Oral Microbiology, Volume 41, Issue 2, Page 69-84, April 2026.
We report optimization of the Treponema denticola shuttle plasmid system by minimizing its size and by characterizing an array of promoter‐gene constructs for genetic complementation, including the first use in Treponema of a Tet‐inducible system for controlled expression of potentially toxic genes.

Antimicrobial and Cytotoxic Activities of Biogenic Nanoparticles Produced by Cyanobacteria

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
The article reviews the green synthesis of biogenic nanoparticles produced by cyanobacteria, highlighting their antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties. These nanoparticles, formed intra‐ or extracellularly, show activity against Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria as well as fungi and can induce apoptosis in tumor cells.

SCV'S: Formation and characterisation in staphylococcus SP

open access: yes
Staphylococcus aureus is the most common cause of hospital-acquired infection and contributes significantly to patient morbidity and mortality. The ability of S. aureus to switch to an alternative phenotype in the presence of antimicrobial agents is clearly favourable. One of these alternatives are small colony variants (SCVs).
