Formation Rate of Triple Stars Relative to Double Stars

Astrophysics and Space Science, 1995
A series of our and McAlister et al.’s speckle observations of spectroscopic binaries show that certain fractions of them are triple systems. A typical configuration of those systems is that of two stars separated by about 0.1 AU with a third component in an orbit at a distance about 10 AU from the central stars.

Global Star-Formation Rates

2005
I review the basic modes of quiescent star formation and starbursts. Star-formation efficiency is the key to reconciling hierarchical galaxy formation with observed galaxy colours and counts. A unified viewpoint is that all star formation is, at some level, bursty. This is motivated both by local observations and by theory.

Star formation rate in starburst galaxies

New Astronomy Reviews, 2000
Abstract The statistical investigation of integrated characteristics of the blue compact galaxies from the Second Byurakan survey has been carried out. The tight correlation between the luminosities in the far-infrared range and radio range (radio-continuum at 21 cm) has been revealed.
