Models for the formation of massive stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The formation of massive stars is currently an unsolved problems in astrophysics. Understanding the formation of massive stars is essential because they dominate the luminous, kinematic, and chemical output of stars. Furthermore, their feedback is likely to play a dominant role in the evolution of molecular clouds and any subsequent star formation ...

A Well-Behaved Anisotropic Strange Star Model

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematical Physics, 2022
We obtain a new nonsingular exact model for compact stellar objects by using the Einstein field equations. The model is consistent with stellar star with anisotropic quark matter in the absence of electric field.

Carbon-enhanced metal-poor stars: a window on AGB nucleosynthesis and binary evolution. II. Statistical analysis of a sample of 67 CEMP-$s$ stars [PDF]

open access: yesA&A 581, A22 (2015), 2015
Many observed CEMP stars are found in binary systems and show enhanced abundances of $s$-elements. The origin of the chemical abundances of these CEMP-$s$ stars is believed to be accretion in the past of enriched material from a primary star in the AGB phase.

Analysis and Correction of the Rolling Shutter Effect for a Star Tracker Based on Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
The rolling shutter effect decreases the accuracy of the attitude measurement of star trackers when they work in rolling shutter exposure mode, especially under dynamic conditions.

Ground Testing Strategies for Verifying the Slew Rate Tolerance of Star Trackers

open access: yesSensors, 2014
The performance of a star tracker is largely based on the availability of its attitude solution. Several methods exist to assess star tracker availability under both static and dynamic imaging conditions.

A Study of Wolf-Rayet stars Formed via Chemically Homogeneous Evolution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Using the stellar evolution code---Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics (MESA), we investigate the evolution of massive stars with different rotational velocities and metallicities towards Wolf-Rayet stars. In our simulations, the initial rotating velocities are taken as 0, 250, 500 and 650 km s$^{-1}$, and the metallicities equal to 0.02, 0.

Optical System Error Analysis and Calibration Method of High-Accuracy Star Trackers

open access: yesSensors, 2013
The star tracker is a high-accuracy attitude measurement device widely used in spacecraft. Its performance depends largely on the precision of the optical system parameters.

Beta Cephei stars in the ASAS-3 data. II. 103 new Beta Cephei stars and a discussion of low-frequency modes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We analysed ASAS-3 photometry of bright early-type stars with the goal of finding new Beta Cephei stars. We were particularly interested in stars that would be good for seismic analysis, i.e., stars that (i) have a large number of excited modes, (ii) show rotationally split modes, (iii) are components of eclipsing binary systems, (iv) have low ...
