Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Phase Space Reduction of Star Products on Cotangent Bundles

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we construct star products on Marsden-Weinstein reduced spaces in case both the original phase space and the reduced phase space are (symplectomorphic to) cotangent bundles.

The Caenorhabditis elegans DPF‐3 and human DPP4 have tripeptidyl peptidase activity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPPIV) family comprises serine proteases classically defined by their ability to remove dipeptides from the N‐termini of substrates, a feature that gave the family its name. Here, we report the discovery of a previously unrecognized tripeptidyl peptidase activity in DPPIV family members from two different species.

Weak associativity and deformation quantization

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2016
Non-commutativity and non-associativity are quite natural in string theory. For open strings it appears due to the presence of non-vanishing background two-form in the world volume of Dirichlet brane, while in closed string theory the flux ...

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Star Product, Star Exponential and Applications

open access: yesGeometry, Integrability and Quantization, 2018
We introduce star products for certain function space containing polynomials, and then we obtain an associative algebra of functions. In this algebra we can consider exponential elements, which are called star exponentials. Using star exponentials we can define star functions in the star product algebra. We explain several examples.

Field theories with homogenous momentum space

open access: yes, 2009
We discuss the construction of a scalar field theory with momentum space given by a coset. By introducing a generalized Fourier transform, we show how the dual scalar field theory actually lives in Snyder's space-time.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Feature-Driven Density Prediction of Maraging Steel Additively Manufactured Samples Using Pyrometer Sensor and Supervised Machine Learning

open access: yesIEEE Access
Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) is a revolutionizing additive manufacturing (AM) that melts the powder particles to create innovative products, but it faces substantial challenges in monitoring and predicting the quality of the printed samples ...

Deformation quantization on the cotangent bundle of a Lie group

open access: yes, 2019
We develop a complete theory of non-formal deformation quantization on the cotangent bundle of a weakly exponential Lie group. An appropriate integral formula for the star-product is introduced together with a suitable space of functions on which the ...
