Single pixel star sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2016
In this paper, a single pixel star sensor has been introduced, which uses the intensity correlation between the modulation matrix and the voltage values of the optical signals. Though controlling single or multiple the reflective mirror of the spatial light modulator as a pixel, it is given in a rough scan or an accurate imaging of the stars.

Star Sensor Thermal Mode

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Results of thermal mode mathematical evaluation and thermal vacuum tests of the star sensor developed for the “Yamal” project were compared. “TERM” software package was used for mathematical evaluation. The comparison of its results with information, obtained during thermal vacuum tests of sensor in shadow shows ...

A hybrid method for accurate star tracking using star sensor and gyros

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2017
Star tracking is the primary operating mode of star sensors. To improve tracking accuracy and efficiency, a hybrid method using a star sensor and gyroscopes is proposed in this study. In this method, the dynamic conditions of an aircraft are determined first by the estimated angular acceleration. Under low dynamic conditions, the star sensor is used to

Improving night sky star image processing algorithm for star sensors

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014
In this paper, the night sky star image processing algorithm, consisting of image preprocessing, star pattern recognition, and centroiding steps, is improved. It is shown that the proposed noise reduction approach can preserve more necessary information than other frequently used approaches. It is also shown that the proposed thresholding method unlike

STAR PATTERN RECOGNITION SENSOR OF THE ASTRO TYPE

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992
Abstract A Star Pattern Recognition Sensor (SPRS) system has been designed for autonomous, all stellar attitude determination. The system consists of three optical heads, including the CCD camera, three image processors and an attitude determination processor. The first system, the ASTRO 1, was realized from 1984 to 1987 and launched in November 1989

Design and application of star map simulation system for star sensors

SPIE Proceedings, 2013
Modern star sensors are powerful to measure attitude automatically which assure a perfect performance of spacecrafts. They achieve very accurate attitudes by applying algorithms to process star maps obtained by the star camera mounted on them. Therefore, star maps play an important role in designing star cameras and developing procession algorithms ...

A star pattern recognition algorithm for the double-FOV star sensor

IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, 2015
A reliable attitude determination system is critical to the success of spacecrafts [1]–[3]. As high accuracy and high reliability devices, star sensors play an important role in attitude determination for satellites [4]–[6]. Based on the star images sampled by star sensors, the locations of the star image in the star sensor coordinate system can be ...
