Star sensor specification standard

2003 European Control Conference (ECC), 2003
In recent years there have been rapid developments in star tracker technology, in particular with great increases in the level of sensor autonomy and the associated capabilities. The variety of sensors now available, combined with the complex on-board algorithms, has led in general to disparate and manufacturer-specific sets of performance ...

Optimization method for star recognition of LAPAN star sensor

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2021
LAPAN-A3/IPB satellite carries a star sensor using a star catalog containing selected star data with identity-based clustering methods, namely Density-based Spatial Clustering of Application with Noise (DBSCAN), a visual magnitude-based filtering method and serial search method in the star recognition process.

Rapid star acquisition algorithm in star sensor

2008 International Conference on Information and Automation, 2008
A new rapid star acquisition method is presented. At first, the characteristic of digital star image is analyzed and the thresholding method for image segmentation is discussed. By use of the optimal thresholding method, the practicable automatic threshold is found.

Fast star tracking technology in star sensor

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
A fast star tracking algorithm is proposed. In order to speed up the star tracking, three techniques including star catalogue partition, threshold mapping and sorting & matching are designed for three time-consuming portions in tracking algorithm,. Star catalogue partition divides the celestial sphere into small partitions.

Rapid Star Tracking Algorithm for Star Sensor

IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, 2009
A rapid star tracking algorithm is proposed. In order to speed up the tracking, three techniques includng parallel star centroiding, sorting, and star catalogue partition are designed for three time-consuming portions in tracking algorithms. The parallel star centroiding is implemented with Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) which avoid image storage

The Mariner Spacecraft Star Sensors

Applied Optics, 1970
The development history of the star sensors used on the Mariner spacecraft is traced, and design and performance details are described. The electrooptically controlled sensor, which was developed for the 1964 Mariner IV Mars mission, was modified for the 1967 Mariner V Venus mission to withstand the intense planetary illumination.

Parameters optimization of image sensor for star sensors

2017 IEEE International Conference on Imaging Systems and Techniques (IST), 2017
A star sensor realizes 3-axis attitude measurement by star imaging and star recognition, and is widely used for the spacecraft. Image sensor is the core device achieving photoelectric conversion (P-E) in the star sensor and its parameters such as exposure time and gain affect the performance of accuracy and dynamic.

Star image fusion and star recognition of multi-FOV star sensor

Proceedings of 2014 IEEE Chinese Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference, 2014
A star image fusion method based on coordinate transformation is presented for a multi-FOV star sensor. By using coordinate transformation, simulated star images are generated and images from different FOVs are fused in the same coordinate system. Star image fusion is combined with triangle algorithm which is widely applied, and the star recognition ...

An Autonomous Predicted Star Locations Algorithm for Star Sensor

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
The larger area threshold scan window in star image is scanned with conventional star tracking algorithm under large maneuvering of the vehicle. This results that the number of calculating angular separation between two stars is increased. So the update rate of star sensor is decreased and the feasibility of errors star locations is increased.

Star Detectability Analysis of Daytime Star Sensor

Journal of the Korean Society for Aeronautical & Space Sciences, 2005
This paper discusses the daytime atmospheric conditions and the possibility of daytime star detection with the purpose of practical use of the star sensor for daylight navigation. In order to estimate the daytime atmospheric data, we use the standard atmospheric model (LOWTRAN 7), from which atmospheric transmittance and radiance from background sky ...
