Optimization of guide star catalog for daytime star sensors
International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2019Daytime star sensor provides accuracy navigation information to air vehicles near the ground in the daytime by observing stars. It has been an important development of modern star sensors. In order to achieve a high signal-to-noise ratio, daytime star sensors work in the infrared band to avoid interferences from sky background.

A Novel Star Pattern Recognition Algorithm for Star Sensor
2007 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2007Triangle algorithm is used widely in the field of star pattern recognition, but it also has disadvantage that recognition reliability decreases seriously in areas where there are many stars existing small angular separation. The character match algorithm can solve this problem and it has small size of guide star database, but it can not recognize a ...

Research and simulation of star capture based on star sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2009The starlight refraction navigation is considered to be one of the most promising methods for satellite autonomous navigation. This paper mainly did research on the capture of navigation stars in starlight refraction navigation. By studying on the geometry relation between measurement star and satellite, a measurement star orientation method can be ...

The star sensor is a high-precision attitude measurement device widely used in aerospace vehicles. One of the most significant influence on the accuracy of star sensor is the operating temperature. Experiments show that with the increase of temperature, the dark current noise of CMOS increases exponentially, which greatly reduces the Signal-to-Noise ...

In this paper, a single pixel star sensor has been introduced, which uses the intensity correlation between the modulation matrix and the voltage values of the optical signals. Though controlling single or multiple the reflective mirror of the spatial light modulator as a pixel, it is given in a rough scan or an accurate imaging of the stars.

Improved TRIAD for star sensor
Proceedings of 2011 International Conference on Computer Science and Network Technology, 2011TRIAD is an attitude determination algorithm, which only uses two observed vectors to calculate the attitude of spacecrafts. It has disadvantage of asymmetry using the two observed vectors and not making full use of all the observed star vectors captured by the star sensor.

Improving night sky star image processing algorithm for star sensors
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014In this paper, the night sky star image processing algorithm, consisting of image preprocessing, star pattern recognition, and centroiding steps, is improved. It is shown that the proposed noise reduction approach can preserve more necessary information than other frequently used approaches. It is also shown that the proposed thresholding method unlike

A hybrid method for accurate star tracking using star sensor and gyros
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2017Star tracking is the primary operating mode of star sensors. To improve tracking accuracy and efficiency, a hybrid method using a star sensor and gyroscopes is proposed in this study. In this method, the dynamic conditions of an aircraft are determined first by the estimated angular acceleration. Under low dynamic conditions, the star sensor is used to

STAR PATTERN RECOGNITION SENSOR OF THE ASTRO TYPE
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1992Abstract A Star Pattern Recognition Sensor (SPRS) system has been designed for autonomous, all stellar attitude determination. The system consists of three optical heads, including the CCD camera, three image processors and an attitude determination processor. The first system, the ASTRO 1, was realized from 1984 to 1987 and launched in November 1989
