Dynamic imaging model and parameter optimization for a star tracker.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
Under dynamic conditions, star spots move across the image plane of a star tracker and form a smeared star image. This smearing effect increases errors in star position estimation and degrades attitude accuracy.

Focal Adjustment for Star Tracker

open access: yesDefence Science Journal, 2010
Technique of measuring intensity distribution and size of spot image developed has been discussed, which is especially suitable for defocus adjustment in ground test of star tracker. A novel approach for choosing a proper defocusing position has been proposed based on collimator, Gaussian surface fitting method, and other ordinary instruments.

Precision Pointing Control System (PPCS) star tracker test [PDF]

open access: yes
Tests performed on the TRW precision star tracker are described. The unit tested was a two-axis gimballed star tracker designed to provide star LOS data to an accuracy of 1 to 2 sec.

Spacecraft attitude control systems with dynamic methods and structures for processing star tracker signals [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Methods are provided for dynamically processing successively-generated star tracker data frames and associated valid flags to generate processed star tracker signals that have reduced noise and a probability greater than a selected probability P.sub ...

Development of the Arcsecond Pico Star Tracker (APST)

open access: yes, 2017
The second generation star tracker estimates pointing knowledge of the satellite without a-priori knowledge. But star trackers are larger in size, heavier, power hungry and expensive for nanosatellite missions.

Multi-functional star tracker — future perspectives

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
This paper focuses on the idea of a multi-functional wide-field star tracker (WFST) and provides a description of the current state-of-the-art in this field. The idea comes from a proposal handed in to ESA at the beginning of 2011.

Recent highlights from STAR

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2018
The Solenoidal Tracker at RHIC (STAR) experiment takes advantage of its excellent tracking and particle identification capabilities at mid-rapidity to explore the properties of strongly interacting QCD matter created in heavy-ion collisions at RHIC.

Dual-Purpose Star Tracker and Space Debris Detector: Miniature Instrument for Small Satellites

open access: yesJournal of Sensor and Actuator Networks
This paper presents the conception, design and real miniature instrument implementation of a dual-purpose sensor for small satellites that can act as a star tracker and space debris detector. In the previous research work, the authors conceived, designed
