Protection Scheme for Star Tracker Images

IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 2019
Radiation effects in star trackers can cause malfunctions that may lead to the loss of communication with the satellite. This paper presents a scheme to protect star tracker images stored in memory against single event upsets (SEUs).

Distortion model for star tracker

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
In order to provide the beneficial expression of lens distortion for star trackers, the numerical results of the grid distortions of four typical star tracker lens systems have been investigated, and then data fitting is done with combined multinomial of different number of terms and powers of radial radius.

Micro APS based star tracker

Proceedings, IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2003
JPL has conducted a study on how to design future miniaturized star trackers. The study proposes an ultra-low power (70 mW), ultra-low mass (42 grams) and very fast (50 Hz) Micro, APS-based Star Tracker (MAST). The accuracy of the MAST will be /spl sim/7.5 arcseconds at 50 Hz update rate.

Star tracker for the infrared

Applied Optics, 1986
A computer-controlled star tracker has been built for use in the IR. A small dedicated computer is the active element in a servo loop that moves two small mirrors located in the light path and keeps the light beam centered in the input aperture of an IR heterodyne spectrometer.

Application of PIV and Delaunay Triangulation Method for Satellite Angular Velocity Estimation Using Star Tracker

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2018
The main objective of this paper is to apply a particle image velocimetry technique accompanied by Delaunay triangulation and spatial angles to consecutive images of star tracker in order to estimate the angular velocity of spacecraft.

STAR heavy flavor tracker

Nuclear Physics A, 2014
Abstract Hadrons containing heavy quarks are a clean probe of the early dynamic evolution of the dense and hot medium created in high-energy nuclear collisions. To explore heavy quark production at RHIC, the Heavy Flavor Tracker (HFT) for the STAR experiment was built and installed in time for RHIC Run 14.

SIRTF autonomous star tracker

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Two redundant AST-301 autonomous star trackers (AST) serve as the primary attitude sensors for JPL's space infrared telescope facility (SIRTF). These units, which employ a 1553B interface to output their attitude quaternions and uncertainty at a 2 Hz rate, provide a 1 σaccuracy of better than 0.18, 0.18, and 5.1 arcsec about their X, Y, and Z axes ...

The STAR Heavy Flavour Tracker

Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 2007
In order to understand the partonic EOS of matter created at RHIC, one needs to study both the collectivity of the produced matter and the degree of thermalization. We propose to address this physics through the study of heavy flavour hadrons in high-energy nuclear collisions at RHIC.

Generation of Guide Star Catalog for Star Trackers

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2018
In this paper, a novel guide star catalog generation algorithm is presented, which is a crucial part of an advanced star tracker design since the performance and reliability of star identification and attitude determination depend on the guide star selection.
