Superwinds and the nature of starburst galaxies [PDF]
I discuss the observational evidence that starburst galaxies are able to drive galactic-scale outflows ('superwinds') and then argue generally that superwinds must have had an important role in galaxy evolution. To explore the role of feedback from massive stars, I review results suggesting that starbursts seem to obey a limiting IR surface brightness ...

Neutrino production in starburst galaxies
Understanding the origin of the diffuse flux of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos detected by IceCube has become a challenging issue within present High Energy Astrophysics.

Chronos and KAIROS: MOSFIRE observations of post-starburst galaxies in z ∼ 1 clusters and groups [PDF]
We present an exploration of ∼500 spectroscopically confirmed galaxies in and around two large-scale structures (LSSs) at z ∼ 1 drawn from the Observations of Redshift Evolution in Large Scale Environments survey, an ongoing, wide-field photometric and ...

Growth of Accreting Supermassive Black Hole Seeds and Neutrino Radiation
In the framework of microscopic theory of black hole (MTBH), which explores the most important processes of rearrangement of vacuum state and spontaneous breaking of gravitation gauge symmetry at huge energies, we have undertaken a large series of numerical simulations with the goal to trace an evolution of the mass assembly history of 377 plausible ...

UGC 7639: A Dwarf Galaxy in the Canes Venatici I Cloud
We want to get insight into the formation mechanism and the evolution of UGC 7639, a dwarf galaxy in the Canes Venatici I Cloud (CVnIC). We used archival multiwavelength data to constrain its global properties. Ultraviolet images show that UGC 7639 inner regions are composed mostly by young stellar populations.

Molecular tracers of PDR-dominated galaxies [PDF]
Photon-dominated regions (PDRs) are powerful molecular line emitters in external galaxies. They are expected in galaxies with high rates of massive star formation due to either starburst (SB) events or starburst coupled with active galactic nuclei (AGN ...

Imaging FTS: A Different Approach to Integral Field Spectroscopy
Imaging Fourier transform spectroscopy (iFTS) is a promising, although technically very challenging, option for wide‐field hyperspectral imagery. We present in this paper an introduction to the iFTS concept and its advantages and drawbacks, as well as examples of data obtained with a prototype iFTS, SpIOMM, attached to the 1.6 m telescope of the ...

Welcome to the Twilight Zone: The Mid-infrared Properties of Post-starburst Galaxies [PDF]
We investigate the optical and Wide-field Survey Explorer (WISE) colors of “E+A” identified post-starburst galaxies, including a deep analysis of 190 post-starbursts detected in the 2 μm All Sky Survey Extended Source Catalog. The post-starburst galaxies

Chemodynamical Simulations of Dwarf Galaxy Evolution
In this review I give a summary of the state of the art for what concerns the chemo‐dynamical numerical modelling of galaxies in general and of dwarf galaxies in particular. In particular, I focus my attention on (i) initial conditions, (ii) the equations to solve; (iii) the star formation process in galaxies, (iv) the initial mass function, (v) the ...
