Multiple biliary duct hamartomas in a cat resulting in a hepatic mass: A case report. [PDF]
A 13‐year‐old, male neutered domestic short‐haired cat was diagnosed with multiple biliary duct hamartomas after liver lobectomy for a suspected malignant hepatic mass. Prior to surgery, comparative diagnostic imaging, including abdominal ultrasound and computed tomography of the abdomen both identified a lobular, well‐defined left hepatic mass ...

Liver-Directed Gene Therapy Mitigates Early Nephropathy in Murine Glycogen Storage Disease Type Ia. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Nephropathy is a complication of glycogen storage disease type Ia (GSD‐Ia), a metabolic disorder caused by pathogenic variants in glucose‐6‐phosphatase‐α (G6Pase‐α or G6PC1). While maintaining blood glucose homeostasis can delay the progression of renal disease in GSD‐Ia, the benefits of liver‐directed G6PC1 gene therapy on nephropathy remain ...

Main Point We observe a more rapid and robust remyelination response in the presence of an inflammatory environment with the combined treatment of Sephin1 and BZA as a result of different mechanisms of action of the drugs on the remyelinating oligodendrocyte lineage cells.

Main Points Induction of the adaptive immune system increases T cell numbers and axonal injury, but does not affect the course of remyelination. Our data suggest that oligodendrocytes are less susceptible to T cell mediated injury than axons. Abstract Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a focal inflammatory and demyelinating disease.

Here, we demonstrate that mild mitochondrial uncoupling via CRMP treatment reduces hepatic steatosis and improves hepatic insulin sensitivity in aged HFD‐fed mice. Long‐term CRMP treatment protects aged HFD‐fed mice against hepatocellular carcinoma in a strain and sex‐specific manner.

Stem cell derived oligodendrocytes to study myelin diseases
Main Points Oligodendrocytes are functionally involved in many CNS diseases. iPSC derived oligodendrocytes represent a promising tool for disease modeling, compound screenings, and potentially cell replacement therapies. Abstract Oligodendroglial pathology is central to de‐ and dysmyelinating, but also contributes to neurodegenerative and psychiatric ...
